If he wins the GOP will declare the people of Alabama have decided this. Since he has been accused of no prosecutable crime and rather it only a question of discretionary moral judgments, it would seem democracy should make the decision.

Teresa Jones, a deputy district attorney for Etowah County and a colleague of Moore's at the time, acknowledged,

"It was common knowledge that Roy dated high school girls, everyone we knew thought it was weird. We wondered why someone his age would hang out at high school football games and the mall … but you really wouldn't say anything to someone like that."

None of Moore's accusers has been shown to have reasons to lie - although Moore obviously does.

As lame as his refusing to admit the truth, he cannot even keep his own story straight, first denying that he knew any of the then teenagers, then admitting to knowing two.

Then, his lawyers attempted to claim Beverly Young Nelson had lied about never contacting Moore. They falsely stated that Moore had presided over her 1999 divorce case. The records reveal that another judge presided. Moore never actually had contact with Nelson.

There is no credible evidence that Moore is a chronic child abuser, and if you are suggesting that he is a pedophile, I see no credible evidence of it.

The Washington Post that exposed Moore's squalid antics was careful to distinguish:

 

And where is the proof of anything that happened 40 years ago and that just came out a few days after the election deadline ?? Moore should remain in the election and then the case can play out. No, a senate candidacy attracts outside journalistic scrutiny, and a reporter pursuing a matter of local common knowledge to encourage reluctant witnesses to share their personal experiences with Moore with the public is hardly surprising.

Elections are not criminal trials, nor does his now lying preclude his being elected. He has a diehard base of support in Alabama among older, less-educated, White evangelicals who put morality aside to vote for the on-the-record boastful p****-grabber, and they well might come out in droves for the molester.

If he loses a seat that was a GOP certainty if The Hole's original endorsee, Luther Strange, had bee nominated, Bannon will be an even bigger loser than Moore.

 

The people of Alabama will decide at the polls and the matter will play out regardless of the result after the election. The left has already labeled Moore a pedophile/child molester. This is the classic pattern of the smear.

 

Many GOP leaders have condemned Moore's squalid behaviour and his lying about it because women (self-admitted Republican voters in at least two cases) have been deemed credible. I have no idea who is telling you that Moore is a pedophile but, yes, his having molested teenagers is a reality that many Republicans now openly acknowledge.

If you need to call the RNC, McConnell, Ryan, and so many Republican leaders "the left!", that is your prerogative.

 

Nancy Pelosi has called Moore a child molester. She is not alone in that.

The timing of this forces R voters to vote for a D or Moore. The timing was clearly calculated. The only choice R's really have is to elect Moore and let the situation play out.

I disagree on the "predation in private" argument. What we're seeing now is that MANY people were aware of what some of the people in Congress were doing, and they did it pretty openly.

If these women had gone to the police in the past....if they were allowing the yearbook to be examined....if there were something recent against Moore that had a shred of proof I would be more open to this argument against Moore.

As of now, there is zero evidence of any wrong doing.

Ask yourself this: have false accusations ever been leveled at someone before? If the answer is yes, and we know it is, then we must approach the issue with rational thought and examination of evidence.

Can you provide any reliable sources for specific quotes by Pelosi calling Moore a "child molester", or is that another fake media meme?

You like to pretend that "the timing was carefully calculated," but there is no evidence that the Washington Post journalists, pursuing rumors they heard while covering the Alabama senate race and persuading Moore's victims to reluctantly go public, was in any way calculated by unknown forces.

Would it have served Luther Strange and the GOP if the truth had been exposed sooner? Of course.
