No, under a free and open economic climate, Venezuela was once the envy of all Latin America. It wasn't until Socialism crept in that the country went to hell in a handbag. The big oil boom just slowed down it's destruction of the country. Chavez was a piece of trash and brought economic ruin to a once thriving community.

I just freaking sourced that before Chavez got in power, over HALF the country was living in poverty.
How on earth can you envy that? lol

Says the guy that can't read the article I linked and makes a wrong assumption. From the link:

"There is no need for Venezuelans to be poor. In 1980, as measured in the Economic Freedom of the World Annual Report, Venezuela ranked the 14th-freest economy in the world and it had one of the highest standards of living in Latin America. Then, as its economic freedom declined, so did its prosperity. After its embrace of socialism under Chavez, only the oil boom could delay its complete collapse."

1980 is before Chavez took power.

Socialism kills and it killed Venezuela.

You far left nuts won't stop until everyone is dead and poor, will you?

    Well....
    1) I can not find your quote in your link or in mine.
    2) That is about 1980. Chavez is like 15 years after your quote. And according to my source, the right wing led economy pushed 55% into poverty when the people had enough and voted in Chavez, and he curved that in an amazing way. It's not denied by your quote.
    3) all you do is comment how things were WAY and WAY before Chavez got voted in, to how things are YEARS and YEARS after he died.

    Thank you for playing.
