Fair enough. You went off on a tangent and never responded to my original post about Turkey never really being a secular republic.

I don't know he may still be trying to figure why ISIS is not on the designated list of terror organizations of the DoS as "ISIS" so that he could develop an argument of the kind that might make him appear a little less ludicrous than he often happens to be ending up like.. Hahaha...

And we just don't wait for a request of permission as things happen too fast around here... So we just don't give it if the guy doesn't seem smart enough to grasp some ideas. It ain't so cool I know but we need to adjust the fast pace politics or watch sh.t revolvin around us out of our control... No good...

    Question:
Does the west have religious schools which have similar (not exactly the same) curriculum with public schools?

    Question:
Do western countries have "education ministries" or institutions of that sort?

    Question:
What western countries have religious emphasis in their constitutions?

Now you got not just one but three seriously good reasons to adjust yourself better to the era by using once again the thing that I just made you discover most recently by the Jon Snow stuff.... Yes, it's called Google...

I think the "son of Ataturk" forgot to take his Ritalin today.

Are you arguing that Turkey was never really secular or never really a republic?

Post #38. If a telescope would fix your vision and enable you to focus I'd hand you one myself but I don't think your eyes are the problem, fake republican "son of Ataturk".

    Don't worry - he'll find them.

And to bolster his "republican" credentials the "son of Ataturk" will probably spice things up with some propaganda from his Islamist pals in Tehran...

OK hand it over, come on I'm waiting. Then I will have you figure how you are going to fix the "no content guy"s glitch. It's important because the non-content guy dissappears everytime he looses an argument, then shows up after some while with complete nonsense attacks... We want non-dissapearing trolls...

And please call me "son of Atatürk" instead of Goody from now on... I couldn't have been honored more! Thanks...

It's been sitting in Post #38 for the past 23 1/2 hours, goody.

I think you understood the point I made and I've given you enough time to debate/rebut/refute it, so I'll be on my way...

It's actually a forced smile, normally I'm poker faced and rather intimidating.

Never really secular. Have you ever heard the joke about Pennsylvania politics consisting of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia with Alabama in between? Well, Turkey consists of two fairly cosmopolitan cities, Istanbul and Ankara, with every other part of the country consisting for the most part of people who are very conservative in their politics and religion. They're easy pickings for extremists.

Ataturk was venerated and he held the republic together through the strength of his personality. He died 80 years ago and his dream of a secular Turkey has been dying a slow death since then.

Attaturk committed genocide and ethnically cleansed all the Christians in Turkey. There, now I told them.

    American as they come.

I believe that our two countries are on an almost unavoidable collision course. It might not become a hostile relationship for a few decades, but I believe it will happen.

I started to hold this belief back in 2012-2013 as I watched Morsi's term in office, and his relationship to Turkey. The potential levers Turkey has to pull from Nigeria to Sweden and from Morocco to Indonesia are hard to comprehend.

The Turks have, to this point, been punching well below their weight geopolitically, much like the Germans. Other actors, such as Iran, have been much more savvy. But Turkey has a lot of levers to pull, pan-Turkish sentiment, democratic Islamist sentiment and the moral authority of groups like the Muslim Brotherhood, a relatively powerful economy, a surrounding geopolitical vacuum, one of the most capable militaries in either Europe or the Middle East, and a deep imperialist tradition.

I think they will lead a geopolitical alliance stretching from North Africa to Central Asia. The United States will probably view this as a good thing, at first. But as their power grows, so will their assertiveness, and the Americans will start to get uncomfortable. It might not come to open warfare, but a geopolitical struggle would certainly ensue.
