http://time.com/#43216/rand-paul-2016-rjc-sheldon-adelson/ Sheldon Adelsons net worth is over $40 billion and he considered reportedly to be the fifth wealthiest person on the planet. It has also been reported he is a GOP donor who spent more than $100 million backing Gingrich and Romney in 2012 and has stated he will contribute to defeat the likes of Paul and Cruz. At this Las Vegas meeting there was major sucking up from Republican hopefuls for the nomination and it seems it would be nearly impossible to obtain the Republican nomination without Adelsons blessing. Adelson seems like the George Soros of the Republican establishment. So,is there any chance of a constitutional conservative winning the nomination?
Carrot Top squandered a boodle on Newtie. The irony is that a fat cat who amassed his loot by exploiting gamblers in Vegas is a hopeless addict himself. You gotta know when to fold 'em. His potential heirs must be adding a considerable lacrimal contribution to his copious incontinence.
Its unfortunate because I agree with the SCOTUS ruling and I am a Rand supporter in 2016. The problem with the system isn't that people can donate massive amounts of money to a campaign/candidate, it's that we allow the government to do so much outside the bounds of the Constitution (namely Article I, Section that they have a REASON to give massive amounts of money to campaigns because they know it buys them things. Under a Constitutional government, all these subsides, government hand-outs, and this Crony-Capitalism would stop existing, so what could they buy? People are right this is a problem, but they have recommended the wrong solution. Instead of a freedom-oriented, Constitutional solution, they have recommended one that isn't a "solution" at all because all it does is further violate the Constitution by now restricting an individuals freedom of speech.
Money corrupts. Pretending that it is "free speech" is the equivalent of allowing the strident shouting of a loud-mouthed few with thunderous megaphones to drown out the little voices of the many. As wealth has become increasingly concentrated in a miniscule elite, licensing the fat cats to perpetuate and promote their pampered and privileged favour is substituting de facto oligarchy for democracy.
Yes, money can only buy so much. I'm getting more and more turned off by adelson everyday. He gives the wealthy a bad name with his bullying and republicans in general. I like Rand Paul and think he would make a great president. I also like Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio. Either of those three can beat any democrat on the ballot, anyone else could be in trouble.
It's unlikely Adelson will have that level of impact. Knocking down Paul ---》IF 《--- he is poised to win the nomination? Fortunately Adelson isn't the only politically active rich guy with money. What suddenly happened to all of the whining about the Koch brothers?
The Kochs are neo-cons....they won't support a neo-isolationist like Rand either. Neither will the guys who are heavily invested in oil and defense contracts. Plus it's not just the Donors....tons of "Establishment" Republicans are coming out against Rand. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/rand-paul-2016-republican-establishment
Kochs are neo cons? Really? After all your posts about them, that's your conclusion? You think the Heritage Foundation, Americans for Prosperity, the Federalist society, the Tocqueville Institute, CATO, the Tea Party, are neocon groups? The Koch brothers spent millions lobbying AGAINST the Patriot Act. Do you even have a coherent understanding of what neoconservativism is?
Yet dems took their money................... http://tinyurl.com/no3r9cx Surprise: Tons of Democrats Took Money From Koch ... Town Hall ‎- 3 days ago By now you're well acquainted with the Left's demagoguery vis-à-vis Koch Industries. To the surprise of no one, Charles and David Koch have ...
You lefties seem to know an incredible amount of things that are just incorrect. The Koches, neo-cons? Seriously? Let's see, pro-gay marriage, pro-pot legalization, and anti-war. Somehow that anti war thing doesn't square with a neo con agenda. As for the topic, Adelson won't need to take Rand out. Rand will take Rand out. The problem with Rand Paul is that he is a hot mess of positions. Right now, people pay attention when they agree with him, and ignore him when they don't. But he won't be able to get away with that in the primaries. Rand Pauls Foreign Policy: For the Situation Room or the Dorm Room? As soon as Republican primary voters get the full plate of Rand Paul positions, they'll dump him.
They've pledged to do a lot of things in recent years with almost none of it coming close to happening. But if they take down Rand Paul, who cares?
Turdblossom Rove and Carrot Top Adelson seem to have settled on Bush III, but Randy will still get the chance to remind folks of Jabba's complicity in the PNAC that contrived the multi-trillion dollar Iraq nation-building fiasco. He colluded with Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Feith, Bolton, Libby, Abrams, Wurmser, Perle, etc. as a founding member. His brother was only a hapless dupe in the affair, but reminding voters of the embarrassment the GOP has attempted to keep far removed from every Republican campaign since he absconded from office is an inevitable stratagem. Jabba will have some formidable baggage. He's his brother, he's heavy, and he's ba-aaa-aaack!
That'd be a great thing IF he would do it. If he says it loud enough I might even be tempted to support him. On the other hand, that entire PNAC conspiracy thing seems to have gone right over everybody's head in their zeal to love Israel at all costs.
