Because if we're opposed to the public use of violence by the government then the "private" use of violence by gangs is perfectly acceptable to us, right?
How do you police private use of violence if you don't have public use of violence? Armed private armies?
Whenever you debate politics with someone you are arguing that a certain group of people(The Government) "should" act a certain way. I am merely extending this assumption to everybody.
I agree with your statements. The belief in government is counterproductive to the evolution of human society, and largely the product of misinformation generated by compulsory government indoctrination facilities. Government has no use, it cannot and will not protect it's subjects, it can and does exist in anarchy while the citizenry are bound, like slaves to it's rule. Belief in government is moronic.
Everything....there is not a single activity that is not taxed or regulated. Government forces us to pay taxes and soon will force us to buy stuff.
Um...arent you the one who claimed in another thread that it was not immoral to have sex with toddlers as long as the child consented to it? I dont think you are really in a position to define morality. LOL! And who should get the final say as to what "hurt" is if not a government? This is where anarchist systems fail on this forum...Anarchists can never explain how to resolve disputes without a government of some kind.
Everything? Where does the Govt tell you when you can have a glass of water or when you have to go to bed? Any specifics you can name? The Govt doesn't force you to pay taxes any more than my lender forces me to pay my mortgage.
That glass of water is regulated, taxed, controlled for quality and delivery. The bed you sleep on is taxed and regulated...The timing might be yours but even that is controlled in a minor way, what with time zones and daylight savings time... No, I voluntarily pay taxes in order to voluntarily not go to jail.
Spoken like a true progressive authoritarian. Altruism and cooperation are great buzzwords but, deep down, you really only look out for yourself.
l believe you're thinking that somehow Wall Street and the banking cartel could exist without the government. And I think you're counting on volunteers to bring in the corn and drive the trucks.
Why should he not? I find most absolute voluntarist and randian rejections of government to be not only intrinsically hypocritical in terms of theory but also deeply contradictory in practice. Nope, but some are intrinsically superior - smarter, fitter, healthier etc. Who said that? My understanding of how government SHOULD run is an managerial institution to address the interests of ALL. I agree. I agree. I disagree. I do believe that stealing can become a good thing a certain point. For example, someone who stole during the industrial revolution, food from their master's house without any serious harm to the master, to feed their starving family because they simply could not earn enough to sustain them all, seems completely moral to me.
You have your beliefs. But what I've seen in 'reality' , is that the way things REALLY ARE (or what is), trumps most beliefs and even faith. I am primarily a person of faith, but sometimes my faith is (and has been) informed by reality itself. What you're essentially proposing by your 'beliefs', is that other have faith (almost) implicitly in mankind. Mankind has NOT proven that is can operate without being regulated/governed (very much like Wall Street). And to say that it need not be governed overall, is seriously a departure from reality. I agree that certain freedoms and a reasonable modicum of individual autonomy should typically be allowed; still, the reality is that rules, regulations, checks and balances are REQUIRED when a society is dealing with HUMAN beings. That is, our very human NATURE (until/unless we actually evolve) warrants certain controls which we MUST place upon OURSELVES even SOCIETY. The idea that each person can do his/her own thing with no limits (in my view) naive and ultimately destructive.
