So what? It does not matter what percentile holds views that agree with mine. My views are just that, "MY VIEWS"; life is not a popularity contest and if you think that it is, than you are beginning at a deficit.

Looked to me like I could have walked up and cuffed him and been done with it but think this cop was scared of his own shadow. This guy does not seem cut out for police work. Think twice before you call a cop, you might get Barney Fife.

I expect him to walk a few feet with the suspect on the floor in plain view rather than assassinate him, you bet your a$$. This wasn't combat zone. The suspect was a US citizen, not a member of Al Qaeda.

I watched the Shaver video, he reached for his waist and disobeyed the officer's commands.

What was not recorded were all Shaver's actions prior to the video.

I think the bigger issue is all the violent felons who get off by our liberal courts and are freed again and again.

The hair trigger that I have acquired comes from being in "The states" all of my life. I have dealt with many people whom I (EYE) consider problematic and it has led me to be "on-guard' at all times, which is why I mostly do not like being in crowds, among those who deem themselves above others, and in hostile engagements. I have learned to be reactive in many instances, and by the manner in which I sometimes respond, shows that I am not naturally a person of hostility.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. And to add, I think that cop should have never been a cop, his aggression was rooted in fear. His approach was absolutely uncalled for.

And many many people are heeding your sage advice, that's why all police departments are having a shortage of officers.
Which leads me to ask, if you dislike the police so much what will you do if your house is burgled or your car is stolen. Obviously you won't go to the cops because you can't trust them, so where will you go?

I had wondered why the authorities would deem that content to be superfluous and choose not to show it. Any flippancy by Daniel would go a long way in explaining the level of the cop's aggravation.

No, I would not. If I had a firearm in the home, I would use it to defend MY home. Besides, I think that people are not becoming cops for reasons that revolve around salary. Maybe, people do not see themselves as ever becoming a cop to begin with; choices and options play a very important and key role in selecting career opportunities. This opens up another aspect of police departments and their personnel. Many, if not most become a cop due to the lack of options that are available to said applicant, which gives reason why so many cops are belligerent, hostile, trigger-happy, brutal, etc. Because PDs are short on personnel, their hiring standards, including the psyche examinations, allow such miscreants to become gun-wielding thugs, sanctioned by governments. This also has to do with governmental overreach which often morphs into police-state desires. Beasts want to survive just like most others, even when their time is clearly up.

Virtually all cops become cops and take all the risks for the honor of serving. There are entitlement seekers looking for the money and the benefits, but most would not risk their lives if they didn't want to help others.

As a Stabbing Westward song states, I DON'T BELIEVE. I DON'T BELIEVE. In other words, I seriously doubt that most cops are cops because they want to help people. I am not buying it. Most become cops because of the "social" benefits of being a cop, plus after 11 September 2001, the benefits of the socio-pathology of Hero Worship.

You must believe people want to become cops to hurt and kill others.

Very disturbing video and to try to apologize for the cop is to try to give license to deranged individuals to commit murder with impunity. Something that those who are inclined to act similarly -- and feel empathy for a murderer acting under the supposed color of law -- might want to excuse, but not something that people with no such inclinations should want to justify. Most decent people would instead feel empathy for a human being put in the position of this suspect facing the kind of instructions he was facing.

On the evidence from this video, and everything said in this thread, it is clear to me that this cop should have been found guilty. Those who found him not guilty can explain their verdict but what we know from the evidence on this thread doesn't leave much room for any other conclusion. First, the standard for use of any deadly force against someone -- much less killing someone after unloading 5 shots at them -- should not be merely whether they follow instructions. It should be if they are posing a real danger that requires the use of such force? Anyone who looked at this video would recognize that the cop here wasn't facing a real danger. Second, even when deadly force is used, it should be the minimum force required to subdue a suspect and not an execution like the one we saw in this video. Finally, the repeated threat that deadly force would be used if instructions aren't followed and if there is any "mistake" in following them, is itself prima facie evidence that the cop had the requisite mens rea to be held criminally culpable. The threat itself would increase the likelihood of a mistake being made by someone who would naturally feel tense, frightened, and confused under such stressful conditions. Conversely, to make these kind of threats repeatedly without any justification (even when it is clear that any supposed failure to follow a confusing instruction isn't deliberate) suggests that this cop wasn't focused on protecting his life. Instead he was trying to satisfy his deranged ego by letting the suspect know that he (the cop) is the boss and the suspect's life is at his mercy. This is not the message to give to cops who are trusted with guns and the lives of people who they are supposed to help protect.

Heroes? You ask who are my heroes as though this is a requirement for views to be qualified. My heroes are Allah (Alaa), me and everyone who does and lives righteously because it is a natural extension of themselves. Cops are not any hero to me at all. I view them as civil servants who support and prop up a system that has died long ago and the reason for its existence today is for control, which is the nature of the Beast. I could go into more detail but I will not. In closing my comment I will state an obvious fact; Freedom is automatic to all animated and non-animated entities. Said freedom does not need defense because it defends itself by extension.
Now I will comment a bit on so-called law enforcement, crime and punishment:
Law Enforcement is not really for the benefit of natural law because natural law needs no defender, it is what it is, it is for the benefit of an artificial construct whose goal is Libido Dominandi which is the lust to dominate.
Crime is a multi-trillion dollar per year industry and it pays well, depending on what side of the criminal enterprise you find yourself.
Punishment, if all who are truly guilty of crime where punished, there would not be any government to speak of.

My heroes are our US combat troops on the noble crusade to rid the planet of radical Islamic people.

Islam has been a cancer on the Earth. Nations taken over by Islamic invaders have doomed their inhabitants to be uneducated, unenlightened, backward freeloaders. What great inventions and discoveries have come from Islamic nations since the 7th Century? I can only think of one thing:

This is true, He COULD have had a gun back there.

OTOH they had just had him laying face down, so any gun he had in that position should have been immediately apparent. OTOOH he might have had a small gun in a back pocket.

He shouldn't have moved his hands, BUT he might have been almost unable not to. That position seems an easy one to hold, to young and strong people, but if you have one of what is a veritable plethora of conditions, or are just old and/or sick it can be very difficult to maintain it for more than a few seconds and the relief is sometimes a sudden spasm

My overall question (and what I would have done other than have taken up some other career than police work) is why didn't they just handle it by walking forward a few steps when he was laying face down and then physically taking his hands and cuffing them behind his back, after which he could have been hauled to his feet and walked out. That business of having to push yourself up and crawl forward looks to be both difficult and dangerous to me, especially when someone is shouting loudly at you and you are understandably frightened.

Yet another example of your police "protecting" and "serving".

'Disturbing' video of 11-year-old handcuffed at gunpoint 'makes me physically nauseous,' police chief says

    https://www.yahoo.com/gma/disturbin...hysically-205118687--abc-news-topstories.html

The good news is that they didn't ask the little girl to perform all sorts of physically impossible gyrations under threat of murdering her if she did anything different, and of course, they didn't murder her. They did however, teach her a valuable lesson, that police do not protect and serve, despite their Orwellian motto.

There should be a nationwide investigation into the hiring practices and training in police departments. It seems they have a penchant for hiring neanderthals and training them to act like neanderthals.

From the article you provided a link to:

When the victim is dehumanized—as in the case of Shaver—people can logically view their life as disposable. To see proof of this logic, one need only look at the utter lack of concern and care for the millions of children currently being starved to death in Yemen or the hundreds of thousands of murdered civilians in Iraq and Afganistan. These people have been constantly dehumanized by the mainstream media and their lives are seen as worthless to Americans. They are being systematically eliminated by the military-industrial complex and Joe Sixpack couldn’t care less.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Many so-called Americans have been Nazified because their mentality doesn't rise above neanderthal level and the Nazis in our pretend government have been working hard to make it that way.
