Regarding the unemployment numbers, what's the big deal? Job numbers always fluctuate one way or the other, and the numbers by themselves don't really tell us much. There is no reason to post about it except as a form of campaign propaganda that is simply not justified by fact, since the president doesn't wave a wand and magically create jobs. If anything from the government has had a positive impact, it's all of that lovely stimulus.

 

You said there was a lot more to the change than just the $1,200. By all means, feel free to let us know what you were referencing. I look forward to hearing it and about how it had nothing to do with Trump. Turns out some people actually pay attention to these conversations, but thanks for proving my point.

Governors reopening their economies. You do recall that it was the states and not the feds who dictated that correct? Lord know we heard enough about it on here from the lefties And how are jobs created?....a open economy not a closed one.

I would also add the stimulus was not a major factor in adding jobs compared to the unemployment rate. . As a one time payment vs a regular income for people from an job it is not something a business would base a future sales on. And as I am sure you now that is how a business determines payroll, future projected sales...nobody is building a hot dog stand because Timmy got $50 for his birthday.....they build it because Timmy has a new job and will have money to spend going forward.

People went back to work as the economy reopened. It makes all the sense in the world.

Because it counted as increased unemployment when they left their job so it had to count as decreased unemployment when they returned for accuracy.

 

Yet they are not new jobs. And should be separate stats..IMO

I could see that if they adjusted the numbers on both sides to reflect that, had they not shown it as true unemployment originally. But that cat is long out of the bag so it would not work now.

You old enough to recall when the military were considered unemployed and reflected in the unemployment rate? The stats only reflected the private sector?

This was changed to make things look better I reckon.

 

This is only happening because people aren't social distancing properly and states opened up too early. Covid cases are increasing exponentially and we will shut down again. Those jobs will be lost.

 

I hope we do not see job loss, the experts have been wrong two months in a row so fair chance they might be again.

The experts were wrong because they didn't expect Americans would be this irresponsible. Don't believe the experts, look at New York and Italy. When you let the virus get out of control for short-term economic gains, it never ever works out.

 

Commies in China did a draconian lockdown, though they were past it but they just did it again. New waters with this virus, sailing thru them is the only way to get past it. Dangers come along with that.

 

If I recall correctly, China is only locking down parts of Beijing, not their whole country. I don't think Chinese methods would work here, but sometimes strong measures are necessary when we are at war.

 

Dont get too excited. The powers that be are already pushing second wave hard and will scare everyone back into their caves...
