There is no such thing as a bad gun or a good gun.
A gun in the hands of a bad person is a bad thing.
A gun in the hands of a good person is no threat to anyone-- except bad people.

Oh good gawd.... I take it you read only bits and part s of the posts. I had clearly said I AM for the 2nd A rights. What part of that is so confusing for you?

So you're saying that if the grandmas and children can't control their emotions when they see some guy who has to bring his rifle into the store to protect himself - then that's their problem? Got it........ after all, it's very important to you to send a clear message that you are armed to defend your person while you buy groceries.... you don't have any idea how ridiculous this sounds?

A responsible gun owner - a REAL MAN - wouldn't even THINK of packing his rifle around w/him while he's grocery shopping, let alone actually doing it! Why? Because he's mature enuf and responsible enuf to know how his presence would effect others and making a big show of himself isn't his nature....real men are made of quiet strength. They don't make a big production of themselves.....

1. The confusing part is how you claim to be pro second amendment rights but call those who defend and make sure those rights remain " not a man " >>>MOD EDIT: INSULT<<<

2. Yes, that is their problem. If we based all of our rights off how children and old people react to them, almost all forms of speech and other rights would be gone.

3. Your definition of a real man is >>>MOD EDIT: INSULT<<<

But like I said before, ice cream melts and drips.

The store has a potential slip and fall liability/lawsuit if the allow children in the store with ice cream cones.

What's stupid, Oldy, is you comparing words - spoken words - to the physical presence of a stranger strolling down the isle of a busy grocery store packing a rifle.......

No need for a rifle if he's scared he won't survive his grocery shopping when a CCW is just as effective.... and much less obvious & scary to the grandmas and children and pregnant women..... doncha think?

pornography is legal.

that doesn't mean you should carry it around with you for everyone to see.

No need for freedom of speech if your speech is going to be vial and disgusting , right ?

Not about being scared, its about making sure people know what our rights are and also that they remain in place. Speech also includes images and other physical presence, which often disgust people such as anti-abortion propaganda. When people start playing the " who needs their rights " game , it hurts all of us.

- - - Updated - - -

Cool , maybe restrict it to just houses . Then just in houses with out minors. Then just in houses who paid the permit. Then just in houses who are grandfathered in with a permit.

Why are you equating 2nd amendment rights to pornography?

When someone exercises their right to free speech, and you don't like it, you cannot label what they say as pornography. Well, I guess closed minded people do... and can...

they are both Constitutionally protected freedoms.

doesn't mean we should flaunt them in Target and Walmart.

I support CCW. But I don't support walking around with exposed large, intimidating assault weapons.

at the very least, its a sign of immaturity, low self-esteem, and desperation for attention.

at worst, its a sign of a terrorist or nutcase about to commit a massacre.

"Really aren't needed"...according to whom?

Personally, I think anyone carrying open carry is asking to be made a target, but it's Kroger's store, they can allow it if they want.

I see people carrying openly from time to time, it's never bothered me in the least. It's always been a pistol on their side, I have yet to see anyone walking around in public with an AR-15 strapped on their shoulder.

How many times have you seen someone openly carrying an AR-15 based rifle in public? Be honest...

It's allowed in many states, but you just don't see it often, if at all.

So what.

My take is this, if there weren't so many groups of people suffering from a gun phobia, we wouldn't see these kinds of ads or constant work to protect our rights.

On the plus side, several local school boards are now hiring armed guards and/or allowing teachers to carry in school. It took long enough, but they are finally realizing the "Gun-free" zone thing does nothing to protect anyone...and arguably makes them easy targets.

1. There's nothing confusing or hypocritical about a guy who claims he's a law abiding citizen to also have enuf brains to know when and when not to pack his rifle around and in a busy grocery store would be a bad idea.....

2. There is no NEED to take a rifle into a grocery store when a CCW is just as effective and not likely to cause hysteria and panic... and yes, I think other people should matter also......

3. You really think my definition of a real man is 'pathetic and insulting'? How so? It's what I grew up with.... a real man has quiet strength.... he's not blustering about how 'tough' he is, twirling his pistol around on his finger, packing around his rifle when there's no need to.... always some behavior that will draw attention to him....

A real man knows his strength, but doesn't need to announce it w/words or behavior......

You probably don't understand what I'm talking about, but they do exist. My hunny was one of these quiet strength men and I really appreciated how he conducted himself in situations when he had to be forceful.........

Hard to defend freedom against tanks and jets with a hunting rifle and a semi-auto AR-15.

Fact of the matter is if our government really wanted to get evil and corrupt they wouldn't have much of a problem doing it. Most people would quickly hand over their weapons when facing a militarized swat team. And the ones that don't won't live long enough to start a rebellion.

Whether or not we have the 2nd amendment, our only hope for "defending our freedom" in the case of a corrupt and evil government killing people in the streets would be to convince sections of the military to fight on our side.

Your last paragraph sums it up. All the members of that evil government army are all citizens too.

Of course, it's not like anyone in the government is going to order a direct crack down on the entire country tomorrow...it would be blatant and obvious and I dare say a good majority of the military and police forces would look at them and say "huh?"...

The political machine currently has the country right where they want it. Half the country vs half the country. It ensures the two party system we have remains in power.

The oppression is slow, but by all accounts progressing. It will be subtle and the masses will welcome it, until they realize what it is and that it's too late.

Their is no need for free speech if its going to insult people ! Why cant people just keep their speech to themselves ! WHo needs rights ?

This is what you are saying but instead of speech, you are going after the 2 A.... while at the same time saying you are pro 2 A. But those who make sure our rights remain are " not manly, not strong , etc..." Its comical really.

I am 10x stronger than your silent strong man obsession.

You’re no supporter of the 2nd amendment if you think a person’s emotions, and lack of discipline to control them, trumps my right to legally exercise that right. You’re no supporter of the 2nd amendment when you think people carrying their guns around have ‘macho’ or ‘rambo’ complexes. I mean you want to talk about sounding ridiculous – Rambo? Macho? That’s your analysis of people carrying?

It is very important to me to send a clear message to folks that want to harm others, those that want to commit crimes that they aren’t going to do it to me. I don’t really care what grandma or junior thinks about that. What they think or feel about it, AGAIN, does not trump my rights. When do you finally get fed up with all the heinous crime and watching helpless people being brutally harmed in this country? I’ll take the title ‘Rambo’ over cowering in a corner hoping I won’t be a victim.

Damn! I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall here....

How can I be going 'after' 2nd A when I had said a couple of times that a CCW makes more sense and common sense than clomping around in a crowed store w/a rifle?! Or did you miss that part?

If you can't understand what I was explaining about one man's 'quiet strength' and the loud, blustering type... well, then you don't understand it..... not my problem.

1. Because open carry is an aspect of it and you are calling people who practice it weak and other childish names. No different than me saying I am pro free speech as long as that speech is conducted away from me and they say what I like.

2. If what you view as strength is sitting around , keeping your mouth shut, and doing nothing.... not my problem.

Going to have to agree to disagree on this subject.

God Almighty..... another one w/a reading comprehension problem..

I'm talking about the topic where Leroy marches thru a grocery store w/his rifle strapped to his back b/c he wants to 'exercise his 2nd A rights.....' when a CCW would work for his 2nd A rights just as much.

Of course, I'm fed up w/heinous crimes all over the country and innocent people being killed... what do4s that have to do w/Leroy and his rifle in a grocery store intimidating and scaring the hell out of people b/c he wants to 'exercise his 2nd A mights'?

Well I’d suggest you bone up on your skills. What damn business is it of yours why someone decides to carry? Do you make it your business why kids today choose to pierce or tattoo nearly every part of their body? Do you make it your business why someone decided to by a noisy rumbling muscle car? Do you make it your business when someone stands on a public bench, whip out his bible and start preaching in the open air? If I decide to carry a firearm because it’s my EXPRESSION of my commitment to the 2nd amendment, why should that concern you? I don’t have to give a reason for carrying. In today’s society of growing anti-gun sentiments, I think it’s becoming imperative to make such statements to show people like you that you have nothing to fear with someone like me carrying an AR into WalMart.

Please show me, where outside of this astroturfed organization's ads (Bloomberg provided the funding), that there has been any real problems (or even instances) of people carrying openly at Kroger?

The guy carrying a rifle on his back does not automatically mean something bad. How perverted we have become. In fact, it could be a sign of a repsonsible gun owner taking his rifle (no such thing as an assaut weapon) with him because he can't leave it behind safely. Maybe he's on foot, maybe he's riding a bike. I do take issue with the mag in the rifle, but I will not make it an issue since this is nothing but bovine excrement propaganda by hoplophobic people who don't know scheibe about firearms. The point is, we do not get to sit in judgement of the situation until you have all the facts. The simple presence of a rifle in public is not a reason for becoming irrational.

I'll state this again...
There is no such thing as a good gun or a bad gun.
The gun in the hands of a bad person is a bad thing.
The gun in the hands of a good person is not threat to anyone, but bad people.

It's that simple. If we as a soceity get hysterical of the mere presence of any fire arm we have let the bad guys (and terrorists) win!

Oldy, words are just that - words. The physical presence of a total stranger walking up and down the isles in a crowded grocery store is a different type of animal. Violence of all different kinds is reported on the news daily, way to many innocent people are victims of sudden violence..... Leroy practicing his 2nd A rights by showing off his rifle in a crowded grocery store is not a smart thing to do....

No, there's nothing 'strong' about just sitting around, keeping your mouth shut all the time and doing nothing......

A man of quiet strength is simply one who doesn't feel the need to show his muscles that he has; his intellect, which is high; his achievements, which are numerous..... he's relaxed about himself and his surroundings and rarely becomes loud and aggressive b/c something went wrong, but handles whatever turmoil/disagreement in a calm manner, if it's possible, but also he never backed away from any conflict; is always there for family/friends/loved ones and has an inner strength for them to lean on during their hard times......

This is the only way I can describe the man I was w/for 15 yrs... he was a Rock of Gibraltor not only for me, but my kids, his kids, friends. At that time, I heard the expression 'quiet strength' and knew I had one of them....I tho't m/b it was a result of being in the Marine Corps, but his mother told me he had always been like that - peaceful, yet very strong.......

Understand now? Probably not since you're a guy, but us women understand......

And btw, I had mentioned b/f that when my kids were growing up, I had told them 'I had better not ever find out you started a fight, but you have every right to finish one'.. and Tom was in full agreement and taught my son some pointers in fighting, but never try to seriously injure the other kid........

Yeah, another agreement to disagree on something. Oh well! You & I have had knock down, drag outs b/f and we survived them and didn't hate each other and we can do it again......

Well, blah! blah! blah! I suggest you bone up on your skills to stay focused instead of rambling all over the place......

So you're one of these who'd feel more macho by carrying an AR into WalMart instead of a CCW......now how'd I know that?
