Unfortunately our culture has a small portion of the population which commits a vast number of murders in this country. Nearly all of these are sociopaths and/or heavily involved in drug trade and gangs, I'm talking on the order of 80%+ of our violent crimes. In fact most of it is simply violent criminals killing other violent criminals, like your recent broad daylight market shooting.

You don't have to deal with feral inner city crime, and we know for a fact that population density has a great deal to do with violent crime, which you don't have a problem with either.

Guns are here to stay, you will not get rid of them no matter what you do. In fact making them illegal simply turns it into a very profitable vocation for criminals. For a great example of this, take a look at the history of Prohibition violence in US history.

I trust the honest citizens of my country as well. I trust them so much that I fight for their right to be able to defend themselves, regardless of their physical ability to resist. A gun is the only reliable defense against physically stronger opponents. In my opinion, it takes a lot more trust to fight for people's right to own guns than to fight for them to be disarmed and defenseless.

Every person has the right to protect themselves from criminals who do not, and will not, follow the basic concept of respect for human life.

When they threaten us, we will stop them, and in doing so let them know we will not be victims. For those who do not get the message, we will put them down like the rabid dogs they are.

The police are not required to protect us, and cannot be everywhere at once. Our legal system and government does not keep them out of society.

I choose to take the responsibility of ensuring the safety of my wife, my children, and my fellow man if needed.

We will not be victims. We will not allow ourselves to be disarmed.

Obviously we have the same aim but different methods, most likely due to both cultural differences and a different size of problem.

You are welcome here any time :)

in terms of gun crime prosecutions. I hope they continue to rise, so the fear and consequence of illegally owning guns in my country continues to grow.

Gang bangers and crazed drug dealers and muggers and robbers are not the Neighbors, and if they were, they would need be dealt with if they came to do me harm.

It is not about fear, it is about being prepared.

Yes indeed. Imagine if there was decriminalisation and regulation of substances.

Banning firearms is no different. All that means is that those of criminal nature have another lucrative market.

The "war on drugs" is a NATO thing, btw.

No, it is a Political thing.

Underlying it all is the Economic aspects of Illegal drug commerce, akin to Tobacco, although completely harmful, it continues to be a major revenue producer, illegal alcohol was a problem after prohibition because the Government was not receiving it's fair share.

Allow the Pharmaceutical corporations to produce high grade taxed products and you will solve many problems at once.

Yeah, among nations that make up NATO. All of them get a piece of the pie.

Not hardly, it will be a major shift in Economic gain, NATO will not be included, only the main customer base, the U.S. other market shares are insignificant and localized to non NATO drug producing Countries.
