One size may not fit all, but kids can learn to process their emotions and we can avoid them growing up dangerous adults. It is not possible to remove all the implements of murder and bubble wrap society. Those who decide to commit murder will find a way. If we want to reduce murder, our efforts should be focused on where murder starts; in the mind.

Wrong. I was in law enforcement, and whether you want to admit it or not, there are blacks serving 10 years in prison for nonviolent drug offenses that white guys got slaps on the wrist for. It might vary from state to state, but what I said is 100% accurate.
What you fail to tell us is what the histories of those defendants were. If you were in LE you should know that has a bearing on sentencing. You have to look at past history. If they had a record before they would be given a harsher sentence. Nice try though.
You're full of bovine excrement. Sometimes politics is an issue, sometimes cultural influences, sometimes racial. All kinds of non-Constitutional influences affect how individual cases and sentencing are handled. Oh, like how about the extremist Muslims who set up a training camp in New Mexico to teach them tactics for school shootings, one of whom killed his own son in a "ritual"... and the judge released them? A lot of things have a "bearing on sentencing"; some of them legitimate, and some of them... not so much.
This is a topic I've yet to dive in, but wouldn't the criminal record of the black population become artificially inflated if they are in fact disproportionately targeted by law enforcement? Therefore, they would also suffer greater sanctions because of it. The problem snowballs into itself. In the eyes of the law, a black man is sentenced harshly because they have a record, but in reality, they were just caught red-handed more times than their white counterparts. I'm not declaring anything, just wondering what your take is.
