    The vast majority of bills die in committee or by not taking votes on them.

    Perhaps McConnell knows that we have more than enough 'gun laws' & the problem exists in woefully inadequate enforcement of the laws already on the books...

    It sounds like an abuse of power to me.
    Though he's only getting away with it because he knows there isn't enough support for that sort of gun control for there to be any repurcussions to the abuse.

    Gun rights are a 'single absolute issue' for many Americans, like me. I'll tolerate the abuse to protect what I view as our most important foundational right, and I'll own being an ideological hipocryte on this issue as well. In the end, I don't see protecting the constitution from mob rule as 'abuse', even if the shoe technically fits.

    I don't even like McConnel. If the political winds shift to favor gun control, I fully expect him to turncoat on the issue. But if nothing else, he has historically good instincts on how far he can 'abuse' his power without alienating his base, which is prolly why he is SML.
