Yes, I stand corrected.....there are SOME guns that are designed SOLELY for target practice....the target being a substitute for another person (the original reason for target practice in the first place....to hone your skills in using your weapon to kill food or enemies.

Dirty Harry is a fictional character...scripted for a particular point of view. He's not real.

your last paragraph contains yet another dubious tale by you....which even if true is moot to the original questions. But since you are just displaying the actions of a crank, rational and logical, fact based debate is pointless.

The subject at hand in the link I provided was an UZI. Look it up.

Assault weapons garnered their title from the manufacturers and military. Go complain to them if you don't like it.

And stop lying, as I NEVER said anything about disarming Americans...Learn to read: Yes, other states have different geography, demographics and traditions where having a hunting rifle on your pick-up is normal...and I have NO problem with law abiding citizens owning a gun.

I don't respond to cranks....if you continue to act like one, then so be it.

That is simply untrue. You asked a simple question, I gave you a simple answer, he is probably practicing in order to learn to use it safely and effectively.

If you are an advocate for unsafe and ineffective gun use, Joe Biden has some advice for you and then I documented "gun 'safety' according to "Smoke-Em Joe Biden!"

So? Most firearms are effective for lethal self-defense.

Are you threw with the stupid questions? Because I've already deconstructed your stance. You want to hang onto it, fine.....doesn't change the fact that a man is dead because of a situation that was created by mindset's like yours.

so you ask when a swimming pool was used as a weapon of war. Thats not dumb but when I ask when was the last time a gun went to war by itself....thats your bar for stupidity? Lol. Thats funny on a couple levels.

Does anyone here really expect a religious fanatic to succumb to logic? Feeding trolls is our greatest failing.

GUILTY as charged your honor! :deadhorse: Time to put this one to bed...eh?

If you're going to pick up the gauntlet for your like minded compadres, try offering something other than these silly constructs to avoid a simple fact.

An Uzi is a weapon constructed for military combat. Period. It's a submachine gun. Here, for your education: http://www.uzi.com/history/

Giving a child such a weapon to train for target practice is dangerous and irresponsible...and speaks to the 35 year old failed mindset of survivalists.

If you can't honestly answer the questions, then spare me your BS:

So the question that immediately comes to mind is, what the hell is this kid "practicing" for?

. Hell, you have accidents in law enforcement and the military with recruits learning to handle weapons from time to time. So why risk it with kids?

And here's a thought....when we see videos of "child soldiers" in parts of Africa, or grade school kids in celebration waving and shooting automatic weapons in the Middle East, Americans are repelled and horrified. So why turn such a thing into a "game" or "entertainment" for children here?

You need to lay off of the coffee and quit blaming other people for you phobias. You tell me to put my kids in the military and then ask me what it has to do with the subject when I tell you that I already have. Your mind is made up. Keep trying to defend tyrants and criminals. I'm "threw" questioning you.

Pay attention, Zorro: when does a child in America find it necessary to use an Uzi "safely and effectively"? What are they "practicing" for.

I addressed your silly little attempt to use Biden's words and the Florida story to detract from the opening post here. If you can't/won't deal with the honesty and fact based logic of that answer, then don't waste my time parroting a moot point.

Now that you have removed most of the propaganda which made the questions rhetorical (you didn't really want an answer or honest discussion), the questions can be answered.

The kid does not have to be practicing "for" anything. If the kid wants to shoot an Uzi, is capable of handling it, and is under the proper supervision, then the kid can shoot an Uzi.

First and foremost, it was the responsibility of the instructor to rate the kid and supervise the activity. The parents are a distant second in supervising the activity. Obviously the instructor made a mistake.

And that's the key element - it was a mistake. Even your link repeatedly points that out.

Comparing this incident to "child soldiers in parts of Africa" is ridiculous. Its not the fact that a child is holding a firearm that is so disturbing about the "child soldiers", its the fact that these children are forced to live in a war, they are forced to indure hardships that no child should face, their world and family is torn apart. "Child soldiers" is a sign that the social structure has broken down completely. That's what disturbs people.

A revolver or a shotgun offers lethal self defense. Why the need for a military issue assault weapon? Why the over-kill with the better potential to hit innocents in a cross fire or stray hits? That's why the guy in your link got fined, you know....his shots out the window with no target in site could have hit an innocent passer-by.

Only to willfully and intellectually dishonest folk like yourself. Whenever folk like you cannot deal with a question that you know an honest answer will disprove your beliefs, you start blowing smoke like this. I answer you previously, and you STILL cannot/will not answer the questions in the opening post. I don't waste time on cranks. Adios, chuckles.

So back to square one......why does an American kid who is nowhere near that social situation allowed to handle a deadly weapon? WTF is the point? For fun? Practicing for what?

The chronology of the posts shows that YOU keep trying to justify a kid handling an Uzi is because YOU the parent "want them to". I ask why, and you put forth the same rhetoric that was heard from survivalist 35 years ago.....a rhetoric that NEVER came to fruition.

And since I'm referring to FACT based events, I'm discussing "phobias". Get your terminology applications in order, Tex.

You want to stubbornly hold onto that stuff, fine. It's a failed rhetoric, as history shows. Your kid's in the military, fine.....the military trains with military weapons...previous experience not required or requested.

What's telling is your absurd statement that I'm "defending" tyrants and criminals, when the chronology of the posts shows that I NEVER stated, alluded to, or insinuated anything of the sort. That's the problem with gunners....properly challenge their beliefs and they immediately lie about what the critic says and writes.

As I've stated previously, I have no problem with law abiding citizens having guns....I'm just not into this insane 'arming to the teeth' crap born of anti-gov't paranoia that only makes things worse...as the original link I provided shows. Oh, and congrats on the "threw" thing. Must be a feather in your cap. Carry on, Tex.

I see you didn't like the truth and have reverted to propaganda. Since data doesn't support your gun banner attitude, you are left with trying to equate an American kid with an African kid living in a totally dysfunctional environment - a ridiculous comparison which nobody is going to accept.

I've answered this, why won't you accept the facts of this story?
The range is called "Bullets and Burgers". It is a tourist attraction, it's not a conventional range. Click the link and tell us this is not a Place where people go so they can do things they can't ordinarily do.
    http://bulletsandburgers.com/

This girls parents apparently wanted her to do something most people never get a chance to do. I'm sure the family thought she would enjoy it. Turns out this was a bad decision as the instructor made a mistake by standing next to her instead of behind her. He also should have helped her hold the gun until he knew if she could hold the muzzle climb.
She was not practicing. Practice requires repetition.
This family was on vacation from New Jersey, this was outside of Vegas where there are many tourist activities.
It was supposed to be fun.
Bullets and Burgers also offers shooting a .50 cal, zip lining, Grand Canyon helicopter tours, Drive muscle cares, and of course as it sounds, it is a restaurant.

a brief shooting experience is not practicing. your loaded use of inappropriate terms is completely dishonest. . and maybe her father wanted her to be able to deal with anti gun extremists in case they start confiscating guns. Stop the blood clot lies. you are just an anti gun extremist who wants to pretend this sort of tragedy is the logical result of people owning guns

    - - - Updated - - -

stop the blood clot lying. I have no problem with recreational shooting, I have a problem with an untrained 9 year old firing an untethered fully automatic sub gun

    - - - Updated - - -

You haven't exposed anything. and people who know this subject have stated I know it too. go away, we tire of your weasel words and your dishonest claims

She was obviously training for war.

Maybe she should go to the amusement park and train on the roller coasters instead though.

we get the fact you are a gun banning extremist and you are fixated on this one tragedy which has no significance to the gun control debate. But free men must know how to fight oppression to remain free. and if you are willing to donate 10,000 dollars to this board, I will prove beyond any doubt I shot a mugger. if you are so sure of yourself-PUT UP OR SHUT UP

I'll give you a real answer as to why we want military style semi automatic rifles. It's none of your *******n business why I want to own it. I have a second amendment right as put forth in the constitution, upheld by law, and legal in my state. If you don't want exercise your constitutionally protected right then don't. Leave me and my guns alone. You, nor any gun banner, has any moral right to make that decision for any citizen in the United states. Your name is fitting, now crawl back down to whatever liberal hell hole your busy body do gooder self came from. Welcome to America where our motto is "Am I being detained or am I free to go, I don't answer questions, I want my lawyer" or if you prefer something less complicated "don't tread on me"
