I disagree as some well places nuke strikes could cripple an opponents ability to wage war like striking their homeland, resources, supply lines. Think what a single nuke could do to a bunch of supply ships out at sea. They have no nukes thus it is a moot point.
Your point is 100% valid but does nothing to prove that "Gun Ownership may have prevented Japanese Empire Invasion WW2". My argument that it would have been a logistical nightmare for Japan and would have left the Empire overextended is also valid.
My point is that countries with large amounts of citizens that are armed and trained tend to be less likely to be invaded. I believe gun ownership compounds any logistical aspect. How do you fight citizens defending their home? As far as Japan goes it doesn't matter, the fact that most of our population is armed provides a massive disincentive for any would be invaders.
Certainly the distance was a factor... We would have seen them coming, however they knew IF they somehow could manage to beat the US Navy that they would have to then fight patriots... It would have been suicide, but the straw that broke the camels back were gun owners... You can bet that if guns were banned then, indeed the Japanese would have tried to invade the US.
Modern armies can annihilate armed citizens if they decide to engage in total war. The Japs engaged in total war. I think they were thinking more about the size of our nation rather than how many six guns there were. The Japs did not have enough soldiers to take us down. My two cents.
Even if no citizen had personal gun, the extremely long distances with highly vulnerable supply lines would present an insurmountable challenge Hitler did not have good luck in russia Even though the population was not highly armed Lets see The plan would be to invade an physically enormous country With a larger population On the other side of a gigantic ocean? What could go wrong? My god The japanese could not take midway Let alone hawaii And they are going to invade califoria? Seriously?
I always think folks like this person saw "Red Dawn" a few too many times. They should have watched "The Russians are Coming, the Russians are coming". The former was a western movie, the latter was a parody of all the fears we had during the Cold War.
I personally think our hgh gun ownershiph has scared off alien invaders Who instead chose to prey upon gun free planets That is pretty much the only explanation i can see for why they have not come for us yet And probably why life on other planets in the solar system has been extinguished.... No guns It is the only logical exlanation
EXACTLY my first impression. In 1941/42.. the LOGISTICS of Japan trying to invade Hawaii.. were difficult. The task of invading the West Coast? MASSIVE difficulty. That a lot of Americans owned a gun.. may have factored.. but... was not the MAIN thing. Far from it.
Yep......the inhabitants of Neptune.....had no guns..they had no FINGERS either.... and were mostly frozen. To them space critters.... Neptune was not worth the bother. I'd think we'd be in trouble if any Super crafty aliens show up.. are advanced enough to just get here.. think we're worth a conquest. We ain't sure just how far the closest inhabited planet is.. but what we DO know is it ain't easy to get there. We ain't set foot on Mars. What we know NOW.....is that it's ULTRA costly, if possible, for us to get to whatever planet beyond this solar system. It ain't Sci-Fi. We know enough to know we don't know enough. Even if we HAD a plan.. the cost is astronomical. We have not returned to the MOON.
You don't, when you force a man to defend his home and family you are pushing that man to the point of total barbarity. He will do anything he can to harm you, cripple you, kill you, and then make an example of you for your friends if he feels it will protect him and his family.
I don't think such reasoning by the Japanese made them fear of a possible invasion of America. The Japanese knew that invading America would be futile. Gun ownership by Americans is not the answer to preventing a possible invasion.
