Dream on. The minimum wage will be a separate bill. And it will pass. My prediction is $13/hr. after the parties hash it out. Biden and the Dems will come out smelling like roses.

You didn't think this was the end of it did you?

Professional politicians do tend to be indifferent to human suffering. The DP political leadership just proved that again, and yet you focus on the now hapless/hopeless Republicans pols.

Which begs the question: when will all the victims of partisan blindness open their eyes and learn the truth that is right in front of them?

Yep, just like immigration reform and closing GITMO was for Obama. You'll need a 2/3rds majority in both houses to pass it on it's own........:roflol:

The RP should not count on winning in the midterms.

Which states still pay the federal minimum wage?
Hint: it ain’t the blue states
The house will pass it as a stand alone bill and let congressional republicans explain why they voted against it.

You are probably underestimating the ability of RP pols to find ways to rig elections.
Republican politicians are very special, but not too special to learn a thing or two from their DP partners.

RP pols are too slow at rigging elections, they will lose in the midterms.

The folks making minimum wage are democrat voters not republican. That's why this sword cuts in one direction only.

And it's good that she didn't. While there are a lot of VERY good arguments against raising the minimum wage to $15/hour, whether they are legit arguments or not, the fact is that raising it or not has NOTHING to do with Covid relief. Just like last year, some weenie in Congress snuck a provision into a 5,000 page "Covid Relief" bill (how many of these things are there, anyway?) that prohibits the US Postal Service from sending vaping products directly to consumers homes. You're probably not aware of that. Hell, I'm a vaper, and I wasn't aware of it until a few days ago. And I'd bet that 98% of Congress critters weren't aware of it either, because they had a 5,000 page document dropped in their laps with only a few hours (or MAYBE days, as if that would make a difference) to decide whether or not to vote for it.

That provision should never have been in that bill in the first place, even if you think it's a good idea. If something has to be snuck through by being stuck in the middle of a 5,000 page bill with nobody but the person who put it there even knowing about it, it doesn't deserve to pass.

Bills should NEVER be that long. Congress should be given enough time to read them, rather than "we have to pass the bill to see what's in the bill". And above all, they should be limited to a SINGLE SUBJECT.

Just as mailing vaping products to consumers homes had nothing to do with the last Covid Relief bill (or was it 3 Covid Relief bills in the past?), neither does the minimum wage.

It's just the same old bullshit political games that get played on us that we all pay the price for, one way or another.

If you are in favor of a $15/hour minimum wage, write a bill about that ONE SUBJECT, and get it passed (or not) on it's own merits, or lack thereof.

And you're basing that out of left field statement on what facts, exactly?

So what? That doesn't make it a good idea. According to the CBO, it's going to result in more lost jobs than it will result in people "raised out of poverty", and that makes sense. A fast food burger flipper or order taker is simply not worth $15/hour. They don't produce enough revenues or profits to justify paying them that much, so if the law makes it mandatory, they'll just replace them with self-serve ordering kiosks to take the orders, and robotic spatulas to flip the burgers. Then all of a sudden someone who WAS making $7.50/hour is making $0.00/hour, so those whose sympathy extends to mandating them getting raises to ridiculous levels have instead insured they don't have a job at all.

    Well done!

There is no data that shows raising the minimum wage increases unemployment.

Be glad she didn't. We all should be glad. It is one of the biggest mistakes this nation could make right now.

Anybody look at gas prices under Biden? As I have said before, today's $4 gallon of milk will be $8 to $12 under the new minimum wage of $15 per hour.

Why is it called "Covid Relief Bill", when less than 10% of the $$$$ goes to Covid Relief?

It should be called the "Pelosi Crony Payoff Bill That Bankrupts Younger Generations".

This was just to get people to vote. Clearly they are well aware of the economic destruction this would bring. You don't have to be an economist to know that different places have different cost of living and a universal minimum wage is a bad idea. (this is how they get the young vote).
Democratic politicians can be smart when it comes to being deceptive. I really wish they would use these smarts for some of their policy decisions.

You think 39 Republicans in the House and 11 in the Senate will vote for it? When do fat and slim mean the same thing? As in chance that will ever happen. Your best chance was for Harris to keep it in the Covid relief bill. Now it won't even be talked about till the next election.
