That's a conversaton that the tortoises on Galapogos might have had. We go wherever we can to study all forms of organisms and we never call them ignorant such as "those amoeba are so ignorant". If you consider yourself or mankind ignorant, that's up to you, and who would know you're ingnorant better than you. And yes we walk around Galapogos with our headlights on. Or it could simply be a question of location, dimensionaly speaking or a supply of energy in the form of water where they could refuel and restock. If someday we manage to find and visit less advanced life on another planet, someone there will ask this question - " why would any species with such understanding and technology want or need to visit and deal with a species that is as violent and ignorant as ourselves?"

By the standards required to develop and use the afore mentioned technology our abilities would obviously be inferior and the general ststus of humanity might very well be seen as ignorant and violent. The animals of our planet do not seen to be capable of knowing if our lights are on, there is therefore no reason to hide from them. Should we ever encounter advanced alien life we would likely tread very carefully and avoid being seen is possible....probably send nano probes that act like their bees or something.

I disagree. The animals of our planet are as aware of us as we are of them, most have ears, eyes and noses - the fundamental senses that help them survive. We'd announce our ourselves if our technology was superior. If our technology was inferior, we wouldn't have to announce ourselves - they'd already know we exist.

The animals pose no threat to us, thus we do not feel a need to hide from them in most circumstances...however I guarantee that were you alone in an Indian Jungle with a tiger you would hide from it if possible. As far as announcing ourselves, it the intent was to conquer and we knew we would win I suppose the hypothetical makes sense....yet how do you propose we gather this data?

If we had the capability of going to them, and they had not yet come to our home planet, might be an indication of our superior technology. If you believe a fighter pilot's story of being challenged by a UFO and failing badly to keep up, would be telling. When we landed in the New World, we were greeted by Indians carrying spears and bows while we had guns and a ship. The point is - as we study every form of life, irregardless of it's placement on the evolutionary charts, so would we be studied. And the possiblity still could be our location and their need for water. To say they wouldn't be interested in us is inconcievable IMO. The argument that we're not worthy of study is laughable. All lifeforms are worthy of study.

I do not believe I have indicated we would not be worthy of study and have in fact indicated otherwise...they could not have considered us ignorant and violent had they not studied us. You propose some very big "IF's" and obviously do not intend to answer my question, for these reasons I see no further reason to engage you.

    Buh Bye.

Really? You didn't imply that we were not worthy to be studied? You didn't imply that you are ignorant?

My brother sat on grant board.
They are political and prone to the individual board granting bias. even when there is no official bias.

In the 70's my medical school was one of about 3 institutions to have marijuana research abilities because
too much research was promoting it was NOT carcinogenic, and was therapeutic.

How close has YOUR contact been to such Science Grants and systems.
In later years, anti cholesterol research promoting eating carbs. Good Pasta and brown bread. (NOT GOOD)

    So do tell.

There is more money in the Science of Life on Mars
    than
There is NO Life on Mars.

How hard is that to absorb?
Very - when it takes getting personal.

BTW my father was an aerospace engineer, his last project was the Viking Landers on Mars
for the purpose of the detection of life.
I have been around that Science for decades. Not that Science Fiction.
