    The figures from Sth Korea suggest that a sub-1% death toll is possible, so don't get too superior yet. The truth is that we simply don't know how many people in China were infected, given that many cases only present with mild symptoms. Of course, there are also questions over the reliability of death figures.

    Unfortunately we don't yet know which outbreaks are typical & which aren't or which data sets are most accurate. Sth Korea may be the best at this point, we just don't know.

    Ultimately the WHO can only work with the data it has. Years after the H1N1 outbreak the death toll was revised dramatically upward. The bottom line is that anyone who is brandishing about a particular set of figures in the face of their political opponents to make some sort of point is making a fool of themselves at best, and behaving disgracefully at worst.

    There are sensible discussions to be had and they aren't hard to find.

    Just because they show no symptoms does not stop them from being CARRIERS who will infect others!
    Tramp told HanNITWITty that the positive tested CARRIERS of the virus should go to work and spread the disease like good little CARRIERS do!

    Sorry but we live in TrumpWorld now and Tramp made playing politics with a virus American as apple pie during Ebola!!! And as Tramp teaches us by example you must hit back 10 times as hard, so I am just being as good a little Trumpist as I can be living in TrumpWorld!

    I can only go by the OFFICIAL numbers given by Tramp and VPee Pants that they use to make the claim that heroic Tramp single handedly contained the virus by shutting the borders.

    No government or president can stop the spread of cold viruses, which kill thousands upon thousands of sick, elderly and immunocompromised individuals every year. They are simply waiting for something to take them out.

    To think a government can do jack **** to stop it, is folly

    This is true , infected individuals that have no symptoms are still contagious and can infect others. Trump did not say those testing positive SHOULD go to work, that is a LIE. He said those with no symptoms ARE going to work.

    Exactly, and if you have no symptoms, why would you ever have been tested. Some people will just try to make it all Trump's fault.

    This morning on the news it was said at some point soon the CDC will begin random testing to get a better idea of how many asymptomatic people are out there spreading coronavirus.

    I think that they will find that the virus is covering all states very well, and that the death rate is very low.

    The 9% mortality rate would actually be low for the oldest population according to the data so far.

    Your party appears to be defined solely by whether they are sufficiently subservient to trump, so don't cast stones in a glass house.

    And when you are not strong enough to clear your lungs effectively, and they are waterlogged from heart failure, and wrecked from years of smoking, you will catch a common cold, develope bacterial pneumonia and empyema, then die a gruesome death

    Something got to take me out, but I never took a single draw on tobacca or weed. I'm in my mid-seventies. Maybe a distracted driver will take me out on my road bike. Death got to come with absolute certainty, and there's a whole lot more behind than there is ahead.

    Single payer will cut these people off anyway, as their potential contribution to society is low and they will be sacrificed to save money.
    The free crap advocates will gladly accept this as their goal is free crap for themselves. "For the good of society" is just the crap argument they hide behind when trying to get their hands on other people's stuff
