Hi all, Found this forum today, and to me it seems like a good place to be. I hope to get some good discussions and have a place where it's possible to some of ones political frustrations out. Been said before, "The pen is sharper than the sword", well in this case it might be the keyboard . Anyway, live on a small island called Bornholm, in the Baltic Sea. Sadly noticed that the flag of Bornholm was not available in the User CP . Cheers!
Thanks all . Yes Shangrila, that's the correct one . KSigMason: See that you are in Iraq. I was there Jun '91 till Jul '92. Stationed in Sulaimaniyah.
Welcome Is this where you live? If so, it is a lovely island. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/13871228 ...and is it really cold there in winter? I ask about the weather because when there is a freezing cold wind here in Scotland, people sometimes say "it's totally Baltic outside".
Hehe Viv. Sometimes warm, sometimes cold. Last winter we had the deepest snow depth in Europe, and a few years ago we had spring in January. All depends on when the wind comes from. The pic is from Nexø, east part of the island, I live on the west part, in Rønne http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%B8nne
Yep, another few days though and I'm gone. In my first deployment I was stationed in Kirkuk and took a trip out to Sulaymaniyah (however you spell it). Even made a trip to Irbil/Arbil. Now I'm down in the Southern Provinces, was in a rather violent one. Now I look forward to a brighter dawn and seeing my family again. This soldier is tired, worn, and jaded.
Gosh, I didn't know you had been through so much. Thank you for your service. To the new member, welcome to the forum. We hope you like it here. We are a diverse community. Jiyuu-Freedom
I drove weekly to Kirkuk to wait for incoming humanitarian trucks with food and supplies. We were to escort them to Sulaimaniyah through the Iraqi checkpoints. Not an easy task as the Iraqi soldiers were told to slip nothing through to the the Kurdish controlled area. While there I was also on tour (2 weeks at the time) in one of our 3 sub-sectors, Kalar, Raniyah and Said Sadic. Have a safe journey home Mason. Salute! Fellow Veteran! PS. Were a year in Cyprus as UN-Soldier from May '90 till May '91.
