    Just to address the first issue you brought up. Here's a graphic. Note the general trend for NIH (bottom bar) is a steady gain upwards, with a few plateaus and slight reductions. We spent a whole lot more money in FY 16 dollars in 2004 than we did in 1981. I don't see a drastic reduction in medical research funding. Do you?
