Unschooling looks interesting but they should create a K-12 Unschooling Recommended Reading List.

Denial is the only strategy the left has. They know their curricula are anathema to parents so they have to claim they don't exist.

Not particularly. But I don't know if it is a real place or à wind up.
If real I would still take it up with the school. Sitting at the computer posting outrage helps nothing and no one.
In fact I just looked it up. No such programme is mentioned.

    What is a wind up?

I must be doing something right if you want me to shut up.

When did I suggest you shut up??
If you were concerned, go and talk to the school authorities!
Sitting there complaining is utterly pointless Use your voice so it counts!
The LAUSD is the second largest school district in the US.
Are you telling me that 640,000 students are following the curriculum in your link??
I suggest someone is having à laugh.

If you use the search in Project Gutenberg for "education" it will show more than 500 works. This is one:

The Alberta Public School Speller by Anonymous

Most of these are from 1870 to 1930 but their perspective seems to be rather different from today. Unschooling looks interesting but I think it needs a kind of skeleton of fundamentals that few kids should deviate from. It has the potential for wasting a lot of kids time.

Yet another rip off by an entrenched special interest looting the American taxpayer. Throw in the grooming and it's clearly time to clean house.

at this point, I'm afraid to have biological children, because of how insane, the far left is with trying to brainwash and indoctrinate American kids in public schools. That tax payers are paying for. CRT, trans, sexual education to grade schoolers, porn to grade schoolers.

If your schools do not allow students to discuss and debate, but absorb everything without learning to assess quality of argument, you need to move to where this does happen because the quality of learning is trash.

I think you are right- and wrong. Yes, there is a functional gap between these kids and others their own age, but the gap is because most kids aren't up to the same level. Every home-schooled and private schooled kid I've known is ahead of public school kids. The less advanced kids see the more advanced as the ones out of place; the ones who don't fit in. This is pretty much human nature, nobody wants to be behind the curve, so they rationalize and criticize those ahead of them.

The "nerds" that were laughed at in public school years back now run the companies that their critics work for, and have invented and make the products those critics now buy and depend on....
Everybody has the potential to excel- but that is raw resource that must be recognized, cultivated and shaped, and that requires a nurturing environment. That means both a solid home and a good school.
Not all those who home-school are good at it, but most are; it takes a lot of commitment.

As a society, we're coming up short on both solid homes and good schools too often- and refuse to acknowledge it. Comparisons of student skills around the world- we come in around 25th place on most things.
Is 25th place good enough for you? For your kids?

Go ahead and have your children. Just home school them and make sure they get the education you want them to have. There are on line home schools as well as home school co ops so that responsibility is shared by like minded parents and kids get socialization with like children.
