Um, you do know the teen was inside the man's home, don't you? Although your link doesnt include all the details, it was reported earlier that the mans daughter first denied knowing the 'intruder' and only later admitted he was her bf.

People have a right to protect their homes from intruders.

If the father and daughter were white, this case would be the 'race agitator/self loathing white lib' wet dream. It would've put TM/GZ incident to shame. But, since this case doesn't have any political value, it's merely a blip on the radar.

A black dude in Austin, texas just plowed through a crowd of white hipsters, killing 2, maiming 5 and injuring 15

The liberals here were hoping to god that he was just drunk, but no, he did it because he wanted to.

He'll be put to death but they will never, ever call it a hate crime or talk about the anti-white hate among monorities.

Pretty much this, and everything we've heard about this case so far, is clear cut self-defense. You can't "sneak around" someone's house without permission and the boy should've identified himself when he had the chance. This, as usual, is another tragic case of Low-IQ people. Don't tell me no one else here wouldn't have identified themselves in that situation. I know I would've instantly.

The shooter and the boy were both black. There's no racial issues to be outraged over which is why it's not a national incident. There is, however, reports directly from the Chronicle that says the girl let the boy in. This what I would call a classic case of teenage love and hypersensitive father that ended with an avoidable death. I'm sure there's more to this story, but nothing's really been released outside of the incident already described.

So you guys can talk (*)(*)(*)(*) or whatever, but I bet it comes out that the man knew the kid he killed.

    Sarcasm noted.

Paradoxically, Austin is one of the most liberal (Democrat) cities in the world. They'll probably make him poster boy of the year and give him a new ... :heart:Subaru:heart:

    from the article

"The stupid thing is that the daughter said she didn’t know who the boy was. So the dad was led to believe that an intruder was raping his daughter, so he fired."

Good luck finding a jury that will convict dad in that case.

Local news here has not mentioned that he was drunk, and the CNN article you posted makes no mention of his blood alcohol level, just simply says he was drunk.

    I call BS.

OK, let's wait for more information. Preliminary reports don't have very much, and some of it is speculation. But I do believe he's been charged with capital murder. The article says he was allegedly drunk, and was caught after an alleged foot chase. Lots of alleging going on there.

As I understand it, he was an aspiring rapper.

    Go figure.

The article I had read several days ago said the kid started to reach for something .... probably his pants? - the father tho't it was a gun and he shot him......

Just a stupid, horrible situation that ended in tragedy - the daughter sneaking her bf into her br in the middle of the night, then telling her father she didn't know him....... my gawd.

That has to be one of the DUMBEST things I've heard a teen girl do - telling her dad she didn't know the 'strange dude' in her br and daddy stands there w/a gun in his hand.......

That fact alone will get the father off and it should.....

He had a lying, sneaking daughter and didn't know it.... what a shame.

On the Austin incident, here's another report:

    http://www.nbcnews.com/#/news/us-news/man-charged-capital-murder-two-deaths-sxsw-n53321

This one DOES say his blood alcohol was over the limit. And that he was stopped for a traffic infraction, but since he knew there were warrants out for his arrest, he tried to escape.

Given that he was clearly someone willing to shoot, if I were the daughter I wouldn't want to confide one damn thing with him. If she'd told him the truth, he might well have shot her too.

A 'hypersensitive' father? IIRC, the time was around 2 A.M. when he found a guy in his daughter's br and his daughter told her dad she didn't know the guy.......AND if the dad knew the guy, he would have used his name, acknowledged him some way AND if he knew the 17 yr old guy, chances are his 16 yr old daughter would have known this.......

'He' was her father(as well as likely the one with at least partial ownership of the home she's living in). He had all right to protect his home from a possible invasion, and when he didn't get the information any one of us would logically need, it resulted in this tragedy.

No doubt. But I would ask here, WHY did the daughter not want to own up to her relationship with this guy? Usually when a teenager does something like that, it's for fear of getting into trouble. Getting into trouble with a hothead with a gun is contraindicated. Yes, it's a tragedy. But I have a feeling the father bears some little bit of responsibility.

Ah, gun grabbers think every gun owner is looking for a reason to shoot; in reality most law abiding gun owners pray that day never comes.

    What an absurd thread!

Can't the Right Wing gun nuts tell the different issues between engaging someone in your house in the middle of the night, compared to stalking and shooting an unarmed kid walking home from store?

He bears 100% of the responsibility, he was holding the gun. I don't have a clear enough picture of what happened but to me something doesn't add up.

Many would be much better off praying "the day never comes" with their door closed instead of prowling around gun in hand and looking for trouble.
