I would strongly suggest that pro-lifers and pro-choicers read everything on this site

    http://www.religioustolerance.org/abortion.htm

I have found it to be one of the very few who put forward items without bias, it tries very hard to look at the issue from both sides of the coin and is a site I have used often.

I hope it will allow the abortion debates here to return to a more civilized level.

The agents if division want nothing to so with this thread!

I mean if people started talking in practical terms instead of ideological terms, what would we have to fight about?

If you ask what can be done tomorrow to reduce abortions, you come to a far different conclusion then if you ask how can abortion be outlawed!

Shamefully that is true, and I myself have been involved in that fight .. but it really should be time to actually look at what can really be done to reduce not only abortions but teenage mothers as well.

My solution requires educating people on the coming problems of population growth, but I say if you turn the ability of people to have kids into a commodity, it would eliminate abortion voluntarily.

Not all of the pro-life stance are completely irrational. Many yes, in their religious fervor they tend to do things that are a little odd, but this is common to zealots of all types.

Here is my position on Abortion which I find entirely acceptable:

Should not be funded at any level by the federal government - infringement on state powers is my basis.

If a state chooses to provide it, it should be billed to the patient, not the taxpayer.

I personally find the practice rather grotesque, but my beliefs are not to be forced onto another. At the same time, I shouldn't be billed for that which I don't believe in. My belief is essentially the same as the LDS church on the practice.

Strangely enough, for my beliefs I draw fire from both the pro-life crowd for being "pro abortion/death", and the pro-choice crowd for "misogyny and punishing women".

    I agree.

Americans, like other human beings are entitled to natural God given rights. Life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Nothing more.

Life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness....and that includes every American's idea of what those entail....lots and lots of different interpretations...
