To use your own words, "Why would lower population want to be in a union that they are all but powerless in when choosing the leader of said union?" Now apply your words to every individual citizen of our country, including you & me. You have described the dilemma quite nicely. I have experienced living as a liberal Democrat in a state that habitually voted conservative. It was uncomfortable for me. Many in similar situations simply stop voting or participating in political or community affairs, because they feel their voice is never heard. I felt that way. If we voted for President & V President directly, having every vote count regardless of where it originated, then I'd feel like I had a voice again. I suspect millions of Americans would feel the same. That UNIFIES the nation. State's rights divides it. State's rights helped divide it once before, causing the Civil War. The Electoral College is an obsolete remnant of state's rights, that's now working to divide us. Eliminating it would help reunite us again.

Your barking up the wrong tree if your trying to convince me to disregard states rights...I never will. That’s insanity to me.

I really do not care how people feelings are effected. A election of a POTUS is not about that. It’s not about the individual nor should it be. It’s about the states electing a leader of their union.

I understand your position, but disagree with it. There appears to be a growing segment of Americans who are leaning my way. We'll see. Until then, enjoy your EC. :)

It hardly seems worth the effort to discuss with you, since each and every post exposes a total ignorance of how the American system operates. At least @XploreR understands the system, even if he disagrees with it. You clearly just don't understand. Bringing up gerrymandering to explain why the electoral college is unfair is ridiculous.

Here is a homework assignment for you: Explain how in the case of Texas (a GOP dominated state) the "ungerrymandering" of their congressional districts would change the electoral vote in the electoral college.
