How do you feel about all these harrassment claims?

If you look at current dictums from HR's harassment can mean anything the accuser wants it to be and that perception is now reality. THAT is insanity and the kind of equality that women in general has brought to the workplace.

 

I agree the general issue doesn't isolate across party lines. It doesn't isolate across race, culture, or anything. Men, and women, have been doing this for years.

But why is this a hot button, headlines generating issue right now?

 

I don't think lawyers are pushing it, but they certainly are reaping rewards from the fallout.

 

What about lesbians? Do they get a pass?

 

That's for the media. But folks wouldn't get in trouble just because of the media. Nobody cares about the media.

 

I believe, and it's been confirmed, there were legions of people who knew about Weinstein and others, yet they remained silent, even when revealing him and others would have no apparent impact on their careers.

Yet they remained silent until now. I wonder why that is? Did they remain silent because these power players were on the same "political" team? A good argument could be made that could support that conclusion.

They shouldn't. That's why I included "women" in my response. Over the years, I've had to deal with that issue when I owned my business. Sexual harassment is not the exclusive domain of males.

The sad thing is, this crap does go on. It's always gone on. Doesn't excuse it.

I remember being told by the head of my HR department that I had to start limiting my exposure to my employees. That stunned me. The reasoning? My company had become big, hundreds of employees, multiple manufacturing plants. In other words, deep pockets. With that many employees involved, lots of bad things could happen. It's the nature of the beast, I guess, and I was quite naive about such a possibility.

 

WHat you said. This shouldn't even be shocking. Folks knew harassment goes on. So when folks get busted why are we surprised! It was a matter of time.

 

HR has replaced common sense a long time ago.

 

Yes, that's what I've found in life. They must be very careful of what they do. I'm not saying it will be for the same reason. The results will be similar. I don't know why it works that way, either.

 

This is normal. So why are folks surprised? I think there are more folks who are harassing or have harassed that are worried now.

I'm not so sure about that, but yes, an argument could be made against such a conclusion.

However, it can't be ignored that when it comes to all these Hollywood revelations, that industry has been the almost exclusive domain of liberal support, and vocal opposition to the right on many issues, including sexual harassment. It doesn't take long to find all the statements defending the accused on the left by well known members of Hollywood, while it appears it was well known their "home" was not in order.

There is a cultural shift in regard to behaviour that is deemed unacceptable. It'll take a while for the new standard to settle.

There will be transitional casualties, over-reactions, and defensive finger-pointing - especially because there will be attempts to equate cases when each differs - but it'll be an upgrade once it stabilizes.

 

That is where this whole thing veers off for me. If someone accepted the benefit then, couldn't that be argued as consent?

I'm not trying to convince anyone. There is no way to convince. I'm simply telling you how it will work. No one is forcing you to believe or refute anything. Remember this particular encounter. It will help you understand.

I also think there are likely people out there wondering how they can jump on the victim train and extract something from doing so, even though they don't qualify for a ticket.

 

And you know this just how? The trend to correction may just as likely to over correct.
