I agree. And the first thing might be to provide jobs and a decent wage for EVERYBODY. Yes, the unemployed as well. I don't know about everyone else, but I don't give a crap if there are gazillionaires mixed in with the population. I'm a socialistic but I am sensible. So "rich" ... why not? But make damn sure that no one is homeless - living in squalor - or hungry. If there's still mountains of cash left over for those who want to drive a Rolls Royce and wear disposable silk underwear ..... OK. The wage should start at a good minimum of survival and work up. As it is now, it starts at the most wealthy and works down, leaving lots of people with doodly squat. That is how class is eventually divided along racial and ethnic lines. Yes, there are rich blacks and Hispanics ... and poor Jews but there's always the rumours of 'uncle Toms' and 'selling out'. If you put people inside of a cage and give food to some but not others, you can expect all of the national treachery you see today. Gang wars, racial rioting, drive-by shootings, serial killings, and blast-em-up's at the shopping mall. A large percentage of America's people are without hope while TV and magazines keep flaunting the rich and the famous for everyone to see.

My argument has been that too often when the issue of immigrants comes up they rant against all those who came here the legal and the illegal.

Did you read the paragraph where I told about how when I was 5 years old I was yelled at by a Bible carrying women to go back where I came from? I recall this incident as clearly as if it was yesterday that she called me a DP. In the late fifties and fifties refugees coming from Europe who were displaced by events of WWII were. Allied DP 's. "Displaced Persons". Yes we were legal and the DP status of immigration was made by the Diplaced Persons Act of 1948. So that Bible carrying women who yelled at the 5 year me for stealing jobs from American was yelling at a legal immigrant.

My point us that too many people blur the diference between a legal and illegal entrant to thus country and hate all of us, legal and illegal alike.

 

Did you not read the line that I said 50 years ago I had a green card? To have a green card means that you are a legal immigrant. When you become a citizen through the process of Naturalization you turn in your green card for Naturalization papers.

One does not become a citizen through Naturalization unless one is a legal immigrant.

I dismissed your sodomite talk in another post earlier. The event last week was dubbed " a day without immigrants". . It was not called a ' a day without illegal immigranta'. I never liked to yes the words illegal and immigrant together. Illegals are illegal aliens not immigrants. As I stated in another post in this thread both sides of the immigration issue blur the distinction between legal and illegal for divergent purposes. The left tends to blur the terms to make an illegal alien into an immigrant. Too many on the right blur the terms and treat all of us the same the legal immigrant and the illegal alien --- with hatred.

So tell me, when you went to this event called "a day without immigrants" ... did it end with herding immigrants onto a train and shipping them south? Did they smash the windows of immigrant shop-owners? Did they set Taco Bell a-flame? Did they overturn "Made in Mexico" VW's? Did they rip down the street signs "Cinco de Mayo"? Did they storm the lending library, gather up all the books published in foreign languages and build a bonfire to lite them up? Ay caramba! It must have been horrific for you!

I was myself, earlier today, accused of being a racist anti-hispanic because I expressed anti-illegal immigrant opinions on facebook. Nevermind the fact that my wife IS hispanic, illegal immigrant =/= hispanic, and vice versa.

The vast majority of us after doing our tour of duty in the Nam left the service not even knowing what VA rights we had.

The vast majority either volunteered or were drafted to fill our fathers boots who served during WW ll or served because serving in the military was expected us, duty to country.

No body served back then during WW ll or during the 50's, 60,s and before the all volunteer military that ended as an American tradition of the "Citizen Soldier."

Only 10% of the Vietnam era vets ever registered with the VA. About the same number as WW ll vets.

You and I do not often agree but I agree with you on political sides but on the VA and Vietnam era vets knowing about benefits or our rights you are right on target. I was one of the rare ones who was given a heads up and the Air Force separation officer just about dragged me to the VA regional office and had me sign up for a special education rehab program under the GI Bill of rights. I took advantage of that but not any of the other rights/benefits back then. I did have to go to the VA when I first got out for disability evaluation and during those visits I observed things as to how Vets were being handled made me pizzed off sick disgusted and I swore that once I was done with those re-Val's that I would never set foot into a VA hospital ever again. Once when I was waiting fir radiology appointment I watched orderlies wheel old sick Vets towards X-ray and just leave them in the hallway lined up and then walk away. Once an old suck Vet tried to climb out and almost fell off the jurney. I got the guy to lay down and went into X-RAY telling them what happened and was told that is the way it is they do not have the personnel. Basically when I complained I was told in a round about way to F off.

That was circa 1972-3.

I did not set foot into a VA again until about 5 years ago after I retired from my civilian job and I started to volunteer at that same VA hospital.

I don't know about you but I never used the GI Bill for a mortgage because the red tape would have strangled any purchase of my first two houses since those were fix em ups. By the time was was able to afford the new houses we bought I did not need the VA or trust it.

In my volunteer role I observed that the Iraq, Afghan and first Gulf war vets are a lot more cognizantvof VA benefits than us Vietnam vets were.

I hope that everyone realizes that the VA does not treat Vets the despicable way they did back then. Yes there is much room for improvement there is in most programs civilian or government.

 

Most illegals are from Latino countries that us a fact. Yet there are illegal Polish, Irish, Russian, ME and I am sure. The thing is that European sourced illegal immigrants are not easy to spot if they keep their mouths shut.

He sold his idea of banning Muslims because he sold a lie to his followers and that lie was that terrorists are pouring into the country as refugees. No there was never a refugee that committed a terrist act. He lied again and fakskey claimed that refugees were not being vetted. The is that they were and are.

Shoukd we tighten up the vetting? Yes and that's Administration did that and they also restricted inflow but Trump lied and still claimed that unvetted refugees are flowing in. His cult followers many right here on this forum believe his lies and foam at the mouth against refugees/immigrants.

The way that Trump actions could affect me is that he threw petrol onto the fire of immigration issues and people are out there foaming at the mouth hating all immigrants when their hatred should be against the illegal aliens. What Trump did was to further blur the distinction between an illegal alien and an valid legal immigrant.

This affect me personably? Well since I am of White European source and I grew up here since an early age and I do not speak with an accent so unless I tell someone there is no way to identify me as an immigrant.once a refugee.

I can say nothing and ignore the hatred that spit upon all immigrants lately and I could even join you guys in that putrid parade of hate but I chose to speak up on forums such as this. Not because I feel any kindred with Muslims because I do not but if any group be it religious , ethnic, or a nationality is being discriminated or unfairly targeted we need to speak up.
