How to make a social safety-net for the post-covid world

True enough, but not a good reason for spending humongous amounts of money in the DoD.

Defend ourselves against what? Do you really think they are going to start a war with Uncle Sam that would annihilate one of the largest markets for their goods.

That just does not make any sense whatsoever. They aint THAT stoopid ... !

 

@LafayetteBis picture this, North Korea or Iran launches a nuclear weapon. Now before they can check the USA response Russia and China will both launch their nuclear weapons and end the world.

But for now, the DoD budget is spent fighting proxy wars .

 

@LafayetteBis oh, and China's dependance on the USA ship sailed away, thanks to Trump punishing China and forcing them to pivot their economy to be less dependent on the USA and more towards self sufficiency.

 

AND THAT'S ALL

China's Export Ship is just fine. They learned to count neither on Uncle Sam nor on the European Union. The Chinese have Africa as a back-up market and they do more than just make things there. They actually run enterprises in Africa that resell in Africa and to the world!

Whyzat? Because in certain countries, their Chinese-made products were found to be too expensive!!!!

ABOUT TRUMP

he's just a sad-piece of American History. He was NOT ELECTED by the people first time around, he'd won in the Electoral College. There's a Big Difference between the EC and the PV - meaning the Popular Vote, meaning "we-the-sheeple"!

Look, it's going to take one helluva lotta pains-taking work to turn that mistake (the EC) around but IT CAN BE DONE.

All Uncle Sam needs is "balls" and some help from the American People who have accepted the fact that "This Democracy of Ours" needs a better way to elect its Presidents!

 

PURE CONSEQUENCE POPULAR-VOTE

But howzat done? Here is how:
*It will take tremendous courage from Congress to change the 12th Amendment (to the Constitution) by means of another Amendment to the Constitution. The Electoral College remains, but has an oversight responsibility to conduct a "Legal Election". That is, make sure all is according to the law.
*But, Congress can institute an Amendment to the 5th Amendment - that is, make the state vote for the presidency a pure consequence of a Popular-vote the results having been duly reported to Congress (both the Senate and the HofR),
*Both of which, given the total state electoral-result, confirm the vote and both decree who is the President-elect.

AND THAT'S ALL ...

 

Having some level of an education DOES NOT create jobs. Whatever jobs exist today and into the future, perspective employees will obtain the qualifications for those jobs...no matter so-called free college studies. I know a person who did not finish high school yet has been successful at Apple and Microsoft...he took it upon himself to learn computer coding to obtain specific jobs. Many of your largest corporation CEO's and/or founders do not have a college degree. Higher education to the masses as a general policy does not guarantee jobs...
