Allow me to "Remind" you of relativity theory and the way light functions within it. Sunlight we see at the beach took about 8minutes to be visible to us. Sunlight from the furthest Galaxies took about 13 billion years to be visible to us. This means that if our sun went black we would not even know for 8 minutes and if a Galaxy at the edge of our universe got eaten by the great dark nothingness we wouldn't even know until our sun exploded.
