"The UK Space Agency had committed £25 million to hunt for Earth-like planets which may hold alien life. Chris Skidmore, the Science Minister, will on Friday announce that the government was backing a project to launch a space observatory to look for rocky exoplanets orbiting at the perfect distance from their own sun to give life a fighting chance." This is real space news from a UK government source. So we have nurses queueing up at food banks, mentally ill people committing suicide in prisons because there are no mental health facilities for them, a national health service in meltdown because of over-population, nursing homes for the elderly and infirm being closed until they'll no longer exist, sink holes in the nation's roads, youngsters being stabbed to death in our streets and parks almost daily, and the list goes on. But hey, the scientists will be alright, and it's good to know we have our priorities in order: they'll have enough taxpayers' money to go looking for rocky exoplanets and hopefully find alien life on them. Now that's what I call 'money well spent'. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/03/08/hunt-alien-life-given-25m-boost-government/ "Mr Skidmore said: “Work to discover Earth-like planets around other stars may eventually lead to us answering the question of whether extra-terrestrial life exists.” One wonders if this Mr Skidmore (Who he? ) would care to chip in some of his own personal wealth as a gesture of solidarity with those nurses?
There are 66 million people in the UK. If you stand outside of pub and explain how unfair it is as people come and go, I'm sure someone will give you your £0.38 back.
