OK, now the whole Manning story has just got surreal.

 

Well... given the way our prison system works, Manning will most likely be treated like a woman (if you know what I mean).

 

I'm actually surprised that more people haven't used the new "gender changing" thing to change the color of their skin.

If we are allowing people to say they are a different gender, then pay for it, why not a different race?

He sez its been hell living as a woman in a man's body. Wait til she gets to an all male prison... she'll undoubtedly find out what hell is really like.

 

Wonder if us taxpayers will be footing the bill for a sex change?

I don't know if people can be born the wrong race. I just know that people can be born with the 'wrong' gender. I'm glad that we live in a world where people are given the opportunity to adapt. She can live life with more freedom and happiness.

 

Look, this does not change what Manning done. I believed that he/she got the sentence that he/she deserved but I couldn't care less about his/her orientation.

 

If so, it would be a lot funnier if his last name was "Mann".

No, the state does not owe him sex reassignment surgery or hormone treatment. He is not entitled to that privilege.

You would have to find an objective definition of race before you could say someone was born the wrong race.

 

I had wondered what her motivation was. The initial claim was that it was to expose the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, then why were all the diplomatic cables leaked? Most of them had absolutely nothing to do with Iraq or Afghanistan, and some of them identified sources of information, opening those people up to reprisals.

With that, and now the timing of her coming out, I have no doubt now that she is an attention whore. I do believe that she may be transgender, but I do not believe that the public revelation is little more than a ploy for sympathy from the LGBT community.

Too few people understand just WHY what she did is illegal, and that there is no valid justification for the deliberate leak of that amount and breadth of information.

Being that she is subject to Military regulations, I do not currently believe that the military recognizes transgenderism as a medical disorder. That may change, but there is little chance of her getting SRS, I don't know any state that actually funds SRS for prisoners, since it is largely a cosmetic and elective procedure in some cases of verified gender identity disorder.

Even if it would be funded, I would hope they would fund it on Medicare before they fund it for prisoners. Persons who have committed crimes should get no special privileges above those who haven't.

She may be able to get hormones, but those are a lot cheaper up front, but still, as I said, until Medicaid covers it, she shouldn't be getting it. My boyfriend did no crime, and he should be able to get hormones before a convict.

 

So say s/he does get hormones and becomes more womanly. Will s/he be transferred to a woman's prison, or forced to spend the next 30 yrd in a gay man's paradise?

Some I can't see justice being served in this case.

 

No, until she were to have SRS, she would remain in the United States Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, an all-male prison. If she were to get SRS while in custody of the United States Military, she would be transferred to the United States Naval Consolidated Brig-Miramar near San Diego, which is the only United States military prison to house females. Considering her high profile and the nature of her convictions, she will be held in maximum security, and due to her gender identity, she may be placed in some level of protective custody away from other inmates. If she were a civilian, I couldn't see her being put anywhere but ADX Florence in Colorado or the Communications Management Unit at USP Terre Haute.

 

So Bradley now wants to be 'Chelsea.'

Is this guy messed up or what? Apparently he has a female, alter-ego, split personality as well. However, he will be under the 'care' of the Army which will not pay for his transformation...

Women need to be in the United States to be a hero.lol

 

If he is in a military prison then there will not be any problem with sexual abuses of inmates. But I do think it is possible Manning is doing this just to work on a psychiatric appeal of some sort and get out early. And if he really does have a gender identity disorder, then the medical doctors at that prison should treat it just as they would treat schizophrenia or any other mental disorder. In this case, hormone therapy, depression medicine, etc. should handle the issue he is having.

 

Snowden will take Russian citizenship for sure looking at the fate of Manning

 

He should not be given hormone therapy at tax payer expense. If he can't afford it himself then he shouldn't get it.

 

If he is smart he will. And if Americans had any sense they would show some concern for all the human rights violations that were in the documents produced by Manning and Snowden. Clearly the USA government is beyond corrupt and are human rights violators that need to be fired from their jobs and replaced with honest politicians. GOP and DNC clearly need to fail completely and disband, and Libertarian Party, Whig Party, Green Party, and Constitution Party need to fill in the gap of the loss of GOP and DNC. America's billionaires need to realize the importance of this and donate to these smaller parties instead of the corrupt GOP and DNC.

Then let him out of prison so he can get a job and pay for his own. Problem solved. You can't have it both ways - in prison AND no access to reasonable medical care.

 

Not going to allow a traitor to skip out scot free. He has to pay for his crime. He's lucky he didn't get the death sentence.

I'd just be curious to know if Manning was a homosexual or ever mentioned wanting to be a woman prior to being imprisoned by the US military.
