I have no respect for Cops...here is why

If cops are going around just shooting everybody then isn't the logical thing to be able to protect ourselves? Or are you saying we should be at the mercy of homicidal cops? Unless of course the majority of cops aren't really as trigger happy as so many on the left have been making them out to be lately. Which is it, let the populace defend themselves from homicidal police officers, leave them defenseless to be slaughtered at their whim, or are people simply lying about the all consuming corruption within the police force?

 

So you're complaining that I overestimated how many cops die every year to gunfire and under estimated how many people are killed by cops?

Nah. I remember the same arguments during the 70's. Police have a dangerous job. Sure there are some that don't know the law and are often sued because of it. Sure some are quick on the trigger due to fear and sure there are some that are sadistic, but the majority of police never even fire their sidearm on duty during their careers.

 

I think most people have been there before.As kids and especially
teens we tend to loath cops because they catch those who play
pranks or vandalize.Most teens at some point either vandalize
or at least litter,jaywalk or act careless.Cops are the Principle
on the street when school is out.
But as one gets older and in desperate need of help,them
Cops shore come in handy.Like on a dark winter night and yer
car stalled out.Strange neighborhood with shanty dwellings,and
yer stranded.That Cop car is a welcome sight.Or if your hurt real
bad and need emergency help.
What are Cops for.To Protect and Serve.The Community at large.
From robbers and muggers and rapists.To direct traffic { which does
tend to bug most people }.To keep undesirables out { like guys
running scams { bunco } or Drug dealers or maybe serious killers.

The majority of people who have served in the U S military never fired a weapon which was directed at an enemy soldier either but we have them stationed in more than 150 other countries as we speak. You're more than likely going to have to ask someone from someplace other than the U S if you expect to get justification for crooked police personnel who have been caught repeatedly taking bribes from organized crime for protecting their involvement in prostitution and dope rings. We have a tendency to lie to ourselves about the real world.

The idiot that started this thread needs to understand the police are not hired to be targets. Obey the law and you will have no trouble with the police. In 99% of the cases I support the police.

What do you Americans think of the idea of disarming your police and keeping only armed response vehicles as back up?

As a correctional officer, Orwellian for prison guard, I work with many law enforcement type of guys all day, 5 days a week. I see the type of people who are attracted to such work and how they behave and treat other people. The vast major I would generally describe as ego-maniacs who get off on their authority. In my opinion, giving such folks a badge and a weapon creates a lot trouble, especially in a police state such as ours.

 

I know a guy from high school that actually posts facebook statuses about ridding our nation of cops. LOL! These folks are hilarious. And you're right. They are the same people that want to sue a police department if the cops DON'T help them! I say we get a list of cop-haters and give it to the LEO's. That way the cops don't have to waste their time assisting trash.

 

Idiotic idea and has nothing to do with courage. Or we can be like the Scots, drink until drunk and carry knives and be lucky enough to have it played out on CCTV.

 

Bad example. If an armed intruder comes into your home the cops will not be able to do anything except file a report because it's all gonna be over by the time they get there.

That's not true at all. Some response times in cities can be under a minute because of how many officers per beat.

I understand your point if you live in a rural community, but if you live in Boston, a cop could be right by your house to be lead in the face of the armed intruder.

Not to mention if someone is dumb enough to invade your home with a firearm, they may not be smart enough to get out in under a minute or two...

 

Actually that is a brilliant solution to this increasing problem of certain elements despising LEOs. Each state government should craft an 'Opt Out Law' for these types; an either/or and legally binding agreement to declare that "Hell no, I don't want no stinkin' pig to render me aid in the form of protection in any manner whatsoever!" Sign it and whenever such ardent cop haters call in then their plea is automatically keyed to the signed agreement. If they opted out then what they get is a canned elevator music rendition of the Beetle's 'We're So Sorry Uncle Albert':

I always question the motives of those that post the hate the cops threads, have these people had run ins with the cops and gotten in trouble for their own actions and words? Too bad there is not a system that identifies anyone that starts threads or posts posts on threads attacking cops so that when they call for police assistance in the future the cops can ignore their pleas for help.

 

All my life I've found that approximately 10% of everyone is a prick.

High School, The Army, At Work....10% are Mod edit, flounder.

The problem is that 10% of folks who go armed with deadly weapons can do one helluva lot more damage to our society than the 90% of good people can do good. I don't know how we could get along without them but it's not a perfect world.

I disagree. Years ago I was in the Navy and was fortunate enough to be an E-5 for almost 2 of the 4 years I was in. I never wrote up anyone in those 2 years.
