IIRC, the Third Heaven comes from some Pagan origin which was adopted into certain Christian sects. Some mention of it, or one of the other numbered heavens, is retained somewhere in the NT.

It's a most interesting field, no mistake! I still have a mild ambition to study theology. Wouldn't even mind being a catholic priest, if such a thing were possible without a penis A good number of Jesuits and similar fringe clerics are atheists, so I'd be following a noble tradition of usefulness and preservation of mythology and ritual.

 

It takes more than a penis, I'm afraid. It takes enough humility to be under subjection to your Bishop, and it takes enough honesty to admit to being an atheist when seeking Holy Orders. Of course, doing so would automatically disqualify you, and even if you managed to make it to ordination you would be asked to declare your beliefs. Dishonesty would get you
excommunicated and defrocked.

By the way, the Pope is a Jesuit. Just how many Jesuits are atheists?

SO I ASK YOU.....as I am a man who knew 13 year old DANNY CROTEAU.....an ALTER BOY for Roman Catholic Church in Western Massachusetts who was.....MURDERED by a Catholic Priest named RICHARD LAVIGNE who had been raping the one time alter boy continuously for years and his body was recovered under a bridge and as Levigne lied and denied any knowledge even though the Priest had called the boys mother at 11:30 at night requesting the boy sleep over the Priests home and in what can only be considered a sick twist of fate the mother also so indoctrinated into the Faith thought nothing of it....pretty damn sick!!

I'm the same for the most part. I want there to be a loving God and to see my dead relatives again. But, I have recently stopped believing in the biblical God for numerous reasons. For a while, I held onto the belief that some God exists and that he sees favor in my(due to some past experiences), but I have moved towards atheism since I cannot justify this favor when so many other innocense seem to have none.

Accused priests were allegedly abusing children during the administrations of Bishop Christopher J. Weldon and Bishop Joseph F. Maguire, and the 1972 murder of altar boy Danny Croteau during Weldon's tenure is the subject of an active investigation. One suspect in that murder is former priest and convicted sex offender Richard R. Lavigne, who was paid a diocesan stipend into the administration of the current bishop, Timothy A. McDonnell.

Credit for McDonnell's tougher treatment of Lavigne goes to Rev. James Scahill and the staff and parishioners at St. Michael's in East Longmeadow. Scahill drew renewed attention to the case by witholding his parish's cathedraticum, the parish's required payment to its diocese, until Lavigne's subsidy was ended.

Also significant in Springfield are indications from Scahill and others that diocesan documents pertaining to sexual abuse by priests might have been destroyed. This possibility, and certain circumstances surrounding the Lavigne case, also sugggest that offending priests might have worked in a network, with ties to diocesan administration and to priests in other dioceses.

But hey....I guess according to YOU....I and anyone else who talks about the rapes and murders of young boy's by Priests, Bishops and Cardinals.....well they must not know what they are talking about either.

i challenge your view of reality that only limited in physical, material existence, within our five senses.

 

There is a world or a veiled reality we cannot observe with our limited five senses. i can not give you physical evidences or direct you to the thrid heavens as long as you limited yourself in these five senses physical understanding. But from time to time, the supernatural realm could invade the natural realm and manifest itself, such as manifested as in miracles, signs and wonders. or the person can tap into the supernatural realm. Christians can do that, we are given extra senses when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit and believe in the name of Jesus Christ whom where all the power and wisdom come from. The eyes of our hearts and spirits have been openned, we "see" things others can not "see". We discover a new and different reality.
BTW, third heaven has to be invited to be there.

OK...since I have a very open mind and because nothing would please me more than to discover PROOF or at the very least even the tiniest piece of EVIDENCE that would support that a loving and caring GOD exists.....I will play along and ask you a few questions that perhaps you could answer?

PLEASE.....understand we are looking for PHYSICAL, TANGIBLE, MATHEMATICAL or SCIENTIFIC PROOF or EVIDENCE that such a GOD exists so if any proposed proof or evidence you might have does not exist within these categories....then please do not waste time....UNLESS....you can provide a category where such evidence or proof you might supply can exist as TANGIBLE.

OK.....so...understand that by logic and definition that anything that can be OBSERVED OR DETECTED either by human or technological senses or even MATHEMATICS......is by definition.....NOT SUPERNATURAL!!!

Supernatural is in reality by logic things, histories or events that DO NOT IN REALITY EXIST!!

Thus if a GOD actually in REALITY exists....such a GOD CANNOT BE SUPERNATURAL!!!

Yeah, those endorphins are cool, particularly when you can pretend you are a special snowflake and belong to a special club.

As I am also a musician and have toured I have always gotten a good laugh out of those Christian Rock Fan's who pay a good amount of money to go see and listen to very average to below average musician's and singers perform a number of songs and as these Christian Rock Bands draw nowhere near there HIGHWAY TO HELL SOLD MY SOUL AT THE CROSSROADS DEVIL WORSHIPING CONTEMPORARIES....LOL!!.....they will tend to play with 8 to 10 Christian Rock Bands all together and some self professed......TEMPLE OF JESUS.....ROCK THE FAITH....GO GOD.....all day shows where actual masses performed in between the performances of Christian Rock Bands is not uncommon.

Soooo.....the BIG THING with Christian Rock Fans is to throw or hold one's arms up in the air with one's left arm at 11 o'clock and the persons right arm at 1 o'clock and then these people throw back their heads while listening to th music and then usually rock a tiny bit to the left and to the right all the while extending both of their arms in a stretch motion.

And exactly.....WHAT.....do such highly religious Christian Rock Fans claim is happening to tham when they do this and listen to the music??

OH yeah....WAIT FOR IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTT!!

Now...of course anyone with even modest medical training or knowledge of anatomy CAN TELL YOU.....when a person stands like that and stretches their arms and body like that and rock back and forth rhythmically to the music......WITH THEIR HEAD THROW BACK......and huge smile and mouth open praising Jesus......well even the dumbest of us KNOWS......that such people due to their stretching their body, their position....the holding of that position in combination with the music and the HYPNOSIS....as a person is literally and figuratively PLACING THEMSELVES INTO A STATE OF SELF HYPNOSIS!!

A MASSIVE amount of endorphin's are released and in many cases actual auditory and visual HALLUCINATIONS can be experienced!!!!

The whole universe is full of mysterious, that can not be explained in any of our limited understanding, logic, technological senses or even mathematics, such as LOVE. Love is both mysterious and sacred, and yet it is the most powerful force in the universe, it is Supernatural, yet prevail and manifest in natural realm. Can you apply your logic, mathematics to explain and evidence love? If you can not, does it mean love doesn't exist?

I don't really like Christian rock music, I am not sure God like the Christian rock music either. i understand where are you coming from about the music. But singing praises is part of worship and expression of our love to God. Praising and worshiping move God, because it is beautiful, showing our respect to Him, that touch and open His heart. Respect open the heart of man too, right? But certainly the choice of music is important, not every type of music are accepted by God. As for why do we rise our hands while we are singing and worshipping.....do you know why did God create hands? Hands are extension of our hearts, when you are touched by your lover's hands, you feel loved and comforted.
So, we rise our hands high up is an expression of giving our hearts to God, at the same, this is also the position to receive blessings from God.

God also love to sing love songs to us.
"The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with SINGING." Zephaniah 3:17

 

Love describes a number of emotions. It's hard to define because it describes emotional states. You might as well say the same about hatred or fear, but then those sound a bit less like the sorts of feelings you'd like to associate with your god, huh?

Also, love never told people to stone their disobedient children to death.

 

This is more indication that god is a figment of the imagination that serves certain emotional purposes for the believer, and not an actual existing phenomenon worthy of any serious consideration as an objective reality. You're not even saying anything coherent.

 

well, even the unbelievers see the problem of today's churches. but we are not to know God and finding the truth through people's actions, really. We are to know Him through the Word, and examine the works of Jesus Christ.
