I like Trump, but I hope he doesn't run again.

Well we know how Clinton pushed banks to make loans to people who couldn't afford them. We saw the letter he put out demanding they make a certain portion of their home loans to the poor. We know when they didn't do that, they were sued.Obama was one of the lawyers that sued one bank in Chicago. Can you show me where Bush forced banks to do that? We know banks had to come out with all kinds of new lending practices in order to have these poor qualify for home loans. Bush did encouraged home ownership I said that before, but he sure didn't force banks to make a portion of their loans to the poor or be sued. We know the Democrats refuse trying to regulate F/M and pushed home ownership all through Clinton's term and most of Bush's. Sense we are getting off the main subject of my original post, I think it's safe to say Bush wasn't alone in the collapse of the economy. He had plenty of help from the Democrats.

Lying tongue? Like saying you have two million shovel ready jobs just waiting for you to get elected? Then after being elected and asked where the two million shovel ready jobs were, he chuckles and says I guess it's not as shovel ready as we thought? How many voted for Obama hoping to get one of those jobs?

If your going to condemn one for something, than you need to also condemn the other side for doing the same thing. Obama got a lot of votes for promising cheaper and better health care and two million jobs when people were looking for good jobs. He knew it was a lie when he told it.

As a matter of fact Obama knew he wasn't going to do most everything he promised He knew he couldn't. At least Trump tried to keep most of what he promised. He might not have been able to do it all, but he tried to do most of them and did many things he never promised. He did more than most of us ever thought he could do in just four years. Obama played off the stupidity of the American people. Promise them everything and deliver little. Much like Biden did promising to pay off 32,000 school loans and reparations to Blacks, citizenship for illegals

I think that is exactly why. Just as I said and the spokesman for the Soviet Union, they didn't have the money to keep up with Reagan's weapons program. It wasn't only Star Wars, it was also missiles and nuclear weapons. The WARSAW nations that the Soviets captured during the war, was costing them a fortune in it's self keeping them in line. Their biggest income was from gas and oil. Outside of that and weapons, the Soviets had little more to sell. They were stretched to the limit, then here comes Reagan with his arms build up and then Star Wars. The last thing in the world Gorbachev wanted is to be remembered as the man to bring down his own country. But I think he had little choice and Reagan convinced him that America does not want to defeat them and NATO is a defense organization and no threat to a peaceful Soviet Union. The two men softened and I think eventually became friends. I think Gorby trusted Reagan's word.I think Reagan was lucky to have Gorby in charge. He wasn't as hard line as the others before him.

I've seen these attempts to put the blame on Clinton before. They don't hold water. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/heres-what-really-caused-housing-crisis/
The non-CRA banks to which the article refers were mortgage companies like Countrywide. Companies that were able to avoid traditional underwriting standards because of the explosion of the RMBS (residential mortgage backed securities) market. It allowed these non-traditional lenders to sell bundled RMBS bonds to the investment community (the global investment community BTW which is why our housing crisis had such an effect around the world) in order to re-capitalize themselves. Something that in turn was only possible because bond rating agencies like Moody's put a AAA rating on bonds containing adjustable rate, subprime mortgages that were ripe for default once interest rates began to rise. All of which was possible because the Bush admin (and Allan Greensberg) took a hands off approach to what was a booming housing market driving the economy.

Gee, now why would you want to misrepresent Gruber's comment as Obama knowingly telling a lie? https://www.vox.com/2014/11/11/7197...ologizes-for-saying-stupidity-of-the-american

Since you claim to want to speak frankly about these issues perhaps you should consider why the ACA didn't live up to some of the aspirations of the bill. https://www.healthinsurance.org/blog/12-ways-the-gop-sabotaged-obamacare/

Was that supposed to help you make your case? A policy established in 1993 caused the housing market crisis almost 15 years later?

The attack on the CRA began in 2007 and quickly spread to conservative information outlets. It was easily embraced because it echoed a standard conservative theme. Government policies supported by Democrats aimed at helping the poor are misguided and, as always when the left tries to help, the CRA ended up doing more harm than good.

To put icing on the cake, it was also a way to put the blame on Bill Clinton and more recently -- as with Kudlow and Moore -- to try to associate Hillary Clinton with it as well.

But when it comes to the financial crisis, government wasn’t the problem. It was lack of government, specifically the failure to impose the necessary regulatory structure on the shadow banking system.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/heres-what-really-caused-housing-crisis/

There was almost as much revisionist history written about the housing collapse by the Right, trying to assign blame on anyone but the real culprits, as there was revisionist history written about the Reagan years. https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/55072.Sleepwalking_Through_History

Here is another reason I don't want Trump running again. The idiot doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. Here he is saying things like he likes Putin and N. Korea's Kim. I know why he said it, he wanted to make himself look smarter than they are. But he didn't word it right and he just made himself look like an ass again. He just needs to forget about running again and help the next Republican President get this economy back on the track it took it.

Jan 6th ended his chances of winning a nationwide election.

Have you looked at the election results compared to 2016? Trump did worse with white men by 5.8M votes.

I can. That's completely ass backward.
It was enough people wallowing in hatred and paranoia that got trump elected the first time and enough people being repulsed by trump's malignant narcissism and interminable hate-mongering that got him fired the second time.
Even a complete toadie like Bill Barr, who tried to con people into thinking that the Mueller report exonerated trump, finally admits that trump is congenitally unfit for office.

That's the part that makes the rabid supporters seem completely unhinged themselves. The people screaming from the rafters about him being one inch away from sainthood are completely **ignoring** all the people that have worked side-by-side with Trump and washed their hands of him. Who would know better who he really is other than the people trapped in his toxic circle of delusional narcissism?

I've mentioned that I'm an abuse survivor (and former child abuse advocate). My mother would constantly tell me that she wasn't abusive because somebody at her church or her friends told her that she's a wonderful mother. She just bought us expensive gifts so, to the outsiders, it looked like everything was awesome. None of those people lived with her crazy @ss. The four of us that did - know she's psycho. Imagine him as a woman and that's her. The lying, stealing, historical revisionism, no appreciation for anything, needs constant attention, is never happy, never satisfied, never pleasant, everything revolves around her, etc.. She IS a female version of him. Maybe that's why I can see his toxicity oozing off him and others can't.

So, it's ridiculous for them to ignore everything (he brainwashed them that anything negative is "fake news") and discount the voices of the MANY people that jumped off Trump's Toxic Train that actually KNOW him.
