but I'm willing to live with it: Raqqa needs to be reduced to rubble tonight.

No. You're DEFINITELY wrong about this.

    There's 220,000 civilians in that city .

So what? They are all potential suicide truck drivers.

80 of 'em died in Paris last night. The point is, I don't even know if the guy was even tied in to ISIS, but word has to go out to the suicide killers that we are holding their people hostage if they do not stop their random killing.

I agree with you, and I also think that the French have the same feeling, especially after what happened in Nice.

Carnage on Bastille Day: ‘Terror’ Attack in Nice – French Airstrikes on Raqqa?

According to French authorities, at least 73 people are said to have been killed, and some 100 more injured in Nice, France this evening following reports that a truck was driven into a crowd.

French police are calling it a “terrorist attack.”

21WIRE believes that the French ministry is already meeting in emergency session with President Francois Hollande, where the French government will be drawing up tentative plans to launch a dramatic series of airstrikes on Raqqa, Syria, possibly as early as tomorrow.

Only a matter of time before they're reminded of what Europeans do when they're no longer nice. Something I've observed for quite some time, if the West really wanted to be the "great Satan" they wouldn't actually be able to say so.

Then people need to make sure to kill any Westerner they come across. After all, they are all potential city destroyers.

    France did this to themselves.

That's what 3 decades of taking in migration from the Middle East will get you—the worst parts of the Middle East no less.

I also am thoughtful of the civilians, but if it would end terrorism - like the atomic bombs ended WWII - I would support it. However, I don't think bombing a city into rubble will stop ISIS. I don't have any answers, but I don't think this is one.

ISIS is largely made up of foreign fighters. The people in their territory aren't "their people". They are actively oppressing and murdering the people in their lands.

    ANYONE is a "potential" anything.

Killing a couple hundred thousand people who are already being subjugated by these terrorists is just stupid.

France has been taking in Muslims for at least a century.

Yeah, the use of those weapons was based on a few factors. How many people would die if the war continued, would it end the war, with terrorist groups, the metrics aren't that simple.

How do you know those people are being 'subjugated' by ISIS and not providing a home and hot meal and a little whoopee every night when the fighters come back from burning Kurds and Christians alive? How do you know the Nazis would not have fought on indefinitely if we hadn't firebombed and starved Hamburg, Dresden, etc. and made the citizenry ready to surrender? How do you know the South wouldn't still be fighting if Sherman hadn't burned the crops and farms? Do you think he enjoyed it or do you think he just might have wanted to get the war over with?

So you suppose a Tunisian or Libyan terrorist in France is going to WANT a few thousand dead Raqqans on his head? We could always change the target for the day.

They would consider those deaths to be more martyrs.

Maybe, but I've lost my patience with that Paris stuff and targeted retaliation. I think this "war" is getting too expensive and too demoralizing to be sustained.

Because if you kill all of those 220,000, then you will have 220,000 suicide truck drivers. It's kind of like having an exterminator come to your house to get rid of all the Cockroaches in your house. Until you realize you still have that many more coming into your house afterwards. There really is only one way, and I will repeat it again, even though most won't believe it. If you leave a house full of cockroaches, the Cockroaches will eventually self destruct onto themselves. They will run out of food, much like the ME will run out of money, food, water, and resources, because of Jihad. At that point, we the U.S. and all of our allies against terrorism, will cut the head of the snake, by telling them they can eat their own oil. You want to win the war against terrorism, that is the way to do it. I said this years ago, that this was the only way. They have been fighting religious holy wars for centuries. And while we get in the middle of that, the suicide bombers will get in the middle of us. That's just the way it is.

Kind of like how Bin Laden lost his patience when non-Muslims invaded Afghanistan. Clearly innocent people must die for your thirst for vengeance.

So please continue to tell us how we are losing the war against Nazi Germany because they just launched V-2 attacks on London. While you do that, I've got some dispatches to read about the Soviets overrunning Berlin.

Ahh, I wish it was different, but at some point only might makes right. Call it the human condition if you like. Also call it 'vengeance' if you like, but at some point I see no reason it shouldn't be called self-preservation or self-defense. Attacks of the type we had yesterday are not going to stop on their own OR by the way we have been dealing with them so far, even tho I am willing to listen to better ways of making them stop. Realistically, however, innocent people are going to have to die.
