Even funnier, imagine if this outcry was actually reasonable and not something you just decide to be angry about. The fact of the matter is not one single person cares about any one of the 3 things you mentioned until it's Black History Month, then it suddenly becomes a problem.

The alcohol consumption rate of Ireland, and Britain are hardly different.

I don't see why Irish should be stereotyped as a loutish drunken Whiskey drinker, while British are stereotyped as sophisticated Tea drinkers who enjoy tea parties.

How do you figure Irish Catholics are responsible for bringing down the United States?

The more Irish Catholics a state has the more educated, and intelligent they tend to be, such as Massachusetts.

Now, Irish Protestants are a different story, they largely settled in Appalachia, where you find the least educated, and least intelligent Whites.

 

I always picked George Washington Carver for whatever Black History Month shenanigans that we were forced to do. It was easier to cling to one person year later year after year than try to manufacture some new way to make someone who was a footnote to history seem like something greater than they were.

 

So it's not enough to be free and to give credit where it's due? It has always been enough for me. If this were a country essentially established by Africans, and where all that blesses our lives comes from the sacrifices, inventiveness, faith and labors of Africans. Then what would be so wrong that it was a forgone conclusion that honors for it all should be to those Africans. The problem isn't an under representation of a race. Affirmative Action is a stranger to honors due. The problem is idol worship. Or in this case, self worship. When I read the Declaration of Independence, I don't see or hear a white European man talking. I hear divine, eternal concepts to be embraced. America is a matter of heart and spirit, not image.

What is it with people who think using the Morgan Freeman clip is supposed to suddenly change everything or negate everything else?

 

What are you referring too ? What people, change what, negate what ?

 

It seems as though every time the BHM debate comes up, someone always finds the above interview with Morgan Freeman and uses that for their argument, EVERY SINGLE TIME. The argument has the tone of "Morgan Freeman thinks this way, why can't the rest of you?" which basically says he speaks for all 42 million black people in America.

 

Maybe because it's all that is needed. Now that you've seen it (multiple times, I take it), you can consider what he said and either accept it as a reason why black history month is stupid, or come up with a rebuttal.

So far, that rebuttal hasn't been made.

 

We could have given them cotton-pickin' September, but, the Hispanics got that one.

I do believe in progressive gov't helping the economically disadvantaged. Sustenance, housing, education, jobs, etc.

My rebuttal, first, is wondering why thinking that one Morgan Freeman clip is treated as the end all be all by people who only use that clip because it aligns with their opinion, when any other time they couldn't care less. Another thing is that BHM, originally called Negro History Week when it started in 1926, was made for e sole purpose of educating blacks on their history when no one else would.

In addition, we as black people don't want, need or care for the approval of white folks in order to celebrate a month that's sole purpose is to educate, as it has been for 90+ years.

 

To stop asking why BHM exists for one. The question comes up literally every year, especially around this time. Another thing is to stop asking "well, if blacks get one how come other people don't have one," made worse by the fact that they in fact do have their own respective months. Made even worse by the fact that this information is easily found via Google, to the point where I actually dropped some links to other months in this very thread, I think they're either on page 5 or 6.
