They wanted back government documents. Would your work let you keep company documents if you leave the company?

Some of the possible charges Trump is facing do not matter whether they are classified or not. What matters is that they were government documents located in his residence without the permission of NARA. If they were classified, then that is just additional charges.

And the only charge I saw per the search warrant was a possible 18 U.S.C. §§ 793, 2071, or 1519. There is also the possibility of 18 U.S.C. §1001, making false statements. But this may apply to the attorney who signed the document under penalties that Trump's attorney signed. And if the affidavit is released, even redacted, that may not bode well with Trump's legal defense either.

If Trump declassified them while president, they are not working within the law.

Then why did the FBI avoid releasing the information even when they were required to do so under the law? Sorry but lack of transparency in government is unacceptable. It indicates them culpable, especially if they are willing to break the law to keep it from the public.

I have been repeating this for the last 3 days, but righties just keep focusing on the word classified when it doesn't matter in this case.

I am really at a loss at trying to explain such a simple concept. Of course, now that they see the applicable statute, they will just revert to making comments about how Trump has unilateral authority to declassify documents.

Yes they are, no matter what, the documents are Government property.

Just because Trump declassifies them, it doesn't mean it's his property. I don't understand why they are having trouble grasping this concept.

The law requires they declassify them. If they refused. They are not working within the law. The information is public property, information that is supposed to be given to the public. Neither Trump's, nor just the governments.

Any momentos given to Trump personally are his property and the FBI can retain copies.

They have to have them to make copies, or even know they exist in some cases.

And what they are looking for are probably emails to the Proud Boys giving specific instructions on how the insurrection was to be done.

Yeah, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink. They are all monkey with their hand caught in the cookie jar and cannot get the cookie and their hand out of the cookie jar. (Shaka Zulu reference here).

Remember, they get everything from Hannity, Tucker, Newsmax, AM Talk Radio, etc and are told that anything outside what they say cannot be trusted. So, yeah, its frustrating.

Well, you obviously don't know anything about classified documents. Didn't you claim tRaitor tRump already declassified them.

There are rules governing gifts so that may or may not be true.

I don't think the people that wrote the affidavit have any clue. They just knew the media would make a stink and it'll distract from biden's dismal performance. Don't you think it's odd they say on their ass for 18 months? Staring down a possible disastrous midterm...

Actually they went in when tRaitor tRump wasn't there, early in the morning wearing plain clothes specifically to minimize news coverage. It was tRaitor tRump that turned it into a spectacle.

Does the constitution require a written document? The proof of declassification is probably on Twitter and in his actions in taking it.

Are there records of the documents being declassified?

I already know that this is fake news. Don't even need to check.

This is a stunt to get media attention off of the dismal failure of Democrats and it did just that.

I think watching Cheney get her ass handed to her pretty much put the kibosh on that little distraction.

Yea, but buying into every internet story claiming to "know" that he FBI is acting illegally is just plain silly-assed.

It's amazing to me how many MAGA buy into "random guy on the internet" at the drop of a hat.
It's how we end up with Pizzagate and lizard people and the return of JFK jr.

Trump literally cheated on all his wives and screwed porn stars while his wife was at home with her new-born son ... dude that will do that has
a real crap set of ethics. So yup - I do trust the FBI more than Trump because when you trust someone ZERO percent of the time, everything
    else is more trustworthy.
