If the shutdown lasts two more weeks, the cost to the economy will exceed price of Trump's wall

250 miles of steel slats does not drastically improve security. It is a vanity project designed to stave off impeachment.

But I am glad that you have implicitly bought onto this idea that trump is holding the government hostage.

That sounds like an argument akin to, "the family should just pay the ransom."

One designed almost solely to stave off impeachment.

You and I both know that trump would immediately call it his wall and out his name in gold across it as soon as possible.

I think you are missing the connection.

Once the New Democratic Party got control of the House, they decided it was more important to grab strapon's and do each other in a group orgy of resistance against the President, rather than do the peoples business. Prior to that, funding for the wall was included.

    Getting worse? LOL ...

re: about a wall ... As noted, while more still oppose rather than back a wall, support has increased to 42 percent, up from 34 percent a year ago and a previous high of 37 percent in 2017. Opposition, 54 percent, is down from 63 percent a year ago and a previous low of 60 percent two years ago.

About border control in general ...
An overwhelming majority believe the gov't isn't doing enough to control the border.

Some are so far off the rails, they can't conceive how rational people view the tracks they are leaving in their wake.

You're missing the point. The GOP had absolute control for two full years and chose - nay, went out of their way - to screw the useless idiots known as Cult45ers (aka: their loyal base and true believers) right in their ears. The truly pathetic part is the idiots are demanding that their sworn enemies, the 'Murica hatin' libruls, make it all better for them. That is damaged chromosome level stupidity right there.

So in other words dems fighting the wall will soon cost more than if they just let Trump have it in the first place.

False, this demonstrates either a publick skule edjakashun, or not an American. and how utterly bereft of knowledge the average indoctrinated commie is of how the US gov't worx.
The GOP hasn't had "absolute control" of Congress since the 1920's. While the GOP has had majorities the donks have maintained enuff seats in the Senate to filibuster ... and filibuster they have.

The first point is irrelevant, because it is so blatantly racist in nature. The only reason that you even hear about anyone being killed is if the suspect happens to be an illegal immigrant. Fox and talk radio wouldn't care one whit about any of these victims if they had been killed by a white guy. That's really really obvious too. Which is why the meme doesn't play outside Trumpsterland.

Your second point is just plain false.

The fact is that murders committed by an illegal alien could have been prevented by enforcing the immigration laws

Deport illegals and there will be fewer rapes and murders in America

Reconciliation. Last used in 2017 to pass their tax cut by bypassing the filibuster. Could have been used at any point in 2018 to completely fund the wall and Democrats would have been powerless to even slow it down. McConnell and Ryan had absolute control for two full years and chose - nay, went out of their way - to screw the useless idiots known as Cult45ers (aka: their loyal base and true believers) right in their ears. The truly pathetic part is the idiots are demanding that their sworn enemies, the 'Murica hatin' libruls, make it all better for them. That is damaged chromosome level stupidity right there.

first of all that white guy murderer more then likely didn't cross the border illegally there for the murder wasn't able to be prevented by stopping him from crossing
    second your favorite fact checker

Most heroin in U.S. now comes across Mexican border, Rob Portman says

yet again we have liberal favorite news paper

While Colombia has historically been the biggest source of heroin sold in the United States, Mexican output has since surpassed it, DEA officials say. Together, the two countries account for more than 90 percent of the U.S. heroin supply, and nearly all of it is smuggled into this country by Mexican traffickers.

    Our ruling

Portman said that heroin is coming to the United States primarily from Mexico. He hasn’t been studying drug facts for nothing.

    We rate this claim True.

You should not assume that I have less information or knowledge than you. I am well aware of that particular study which demonstrates that an overwhelming majority still oppose his wall. It also shows than only 1/4th of voters agree that a national crisis is taking place and 2/3rds of voters oppose his plan to declare a national emergency. But to your point, the number of people who support his wall went from 34 percent to 42 percent in one year. My bet is that the 42 number is exactly the same or slightly lower than it was when the shutdown started a month ago, but my original post remains accurate...

I said his approval rating and approval for his non-plan have declined. Trump has a plan for the wall and it is a **** one, but it exists. On the other hand, he has no plan for ending the shutdown. That is what I referenced when I said his non-plan. Here's one example from CNN that shows the decline over the last month.

    https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2019/01/13/politics/cnn-poll-shutdown-trump/index.html

On a side note, the CNN poll also finds that 56 percent oppose his wall (consistent with your ABC source) and notes that number is exactly the same as it was in December.

As such, he is being blamed by a majority of voters for the shutdown, those numbers are trending poorly for him, as is his approval ratings.

And if any of these people had been killed by a white person, you wouldn't know about it, your media wouldn't wave each incident like a bloody shirt, and you would never know about them or care.

There is only ONE reason you even mention it. And it isn't because the people promoting this meme give one good damn about the victims, either.

But they were not killed by a native born white person

These murders by illegal aliens were easily prevented

I repeat the question. Name one real economy that doesn't rely on government support. Be sure to show your work.

Thanks for making my point. You would have never heard or cared, had the assailant not been an illegal immigrant.

These stories are being amplifed by right wing media for optics. They know they can't make a fact based argument for this wall. Tehy know that illegal immigration is only a fraction of what it was twenty years ago, and they know that most illegal immigrants arrived at an airport and overstayed their visas.

But that's no way to sell a monument to the fear and bigotry of the Trump base.

So you have to put every single crime allegedly committed by an illegal immigrant on prime time on Fox Noise and get every trash blog and right wing talk radio show bleating about it.

The right wing noise machine runs on optics, and emotional appeals. Facts don't play a role, and the audience isn't interested in facts. But they respond to designed and chosen images like Pavlov's dog.

There is no real case for this "wall".

And there will be no wall.

On this issue, I trust the border patrol agents to a point. For one, they are intimately and completely beholden to Trump. They sell the message that the wall works because he needs them to sell that message and he controls whether they get money, resources, and manpower.

The problem with a wall is that it shifts the burden and location of the problem. Do walls work in a specific region and for a specific period of time? Sure. Until the people who have a financial incentive to find a way around that wall have done so - either by building tunnels, making a hole in the wall, or going to the points where the wall does not exist (or by flying, going by boat, etc.).

But more importantly is the fact that Trump's 250 miles of border wall is not a sufficient reason to shut down the government. He refuses to open the government because he does not want to provide a political win to the Democrats. His threshold for declaring a national emergency is whether he can make a deal - that is not how national emergencies work.

Do you also subscribe to the argument that Roe v. Wade is the most significant contributor to the reduction in crime nationwide from the high point experienced in the 1980s?
