Ilhan Omar: ‘This Is Not Going to Be the Country of White People’

She's conflating 'xenophobes', genocide and slavery with whites (not even subtly). She's saying something needs to be done about white people in this nation because of that, and to secure a future for non-white people.

To read anything else from her statement is to be in denial, not 'open minded'.

 

Omar. Listen up. This isn’t a country of the many, the masses, the indigenous, the aboriginal, the community, the tribes, or any other kind of collective; it is the country of the “one”, as in the individual, as in “individual rights, as in”...life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. Furthermore, it’s time to grow intellectually and realize, your rights end where mine begin. Get it? Got it? Good.

In other words, you have the right to bow before Allah, but not the right to behead me for not lowering mine.

 

Individualism isn't something that progressives understand. Everything is about group identity, hierarchy, and power struggle with them.

I'm just floored by the different standards that were held as it regards Rep King(R-Louisiana) and this hateful, antisemitic individual who somehow crawled in Congress.

 

Because some white people are the ones who claim that this is a white country or that it should be, but you don't really have the equivalent for other groups.

 

Yet if she said that she'd be speaking just as correctly as she did here. I'm no fan of Omar, but she didn't say something dumb this particular time.

 

Singling out people because of the color of their skin in racist. Pointing out that there are racial issues and that this country is not meant to be a country for any one race is not. There is a difference.

This woman is clearly a racist. Does anyone know how she became a U.S. citizen? Did she go through the whole citizenship process? Or chain migration? Or just automatic because of refugee status? I am unsure how it works, but it doesn't seem to me that she fully understands this country. Aren't there any rules or standards about who can run for our legislature? I'm not saying anyone who is foreign born shouldn't be in our congress, but it does seem like they should have to take the long way around to become a citizen. And I am betting she didn't.

She did not say that this is a country for all races/beliefs. That would be a fair, unbiased statement. She specifically singled out an entire group based solely on the color of their skin. Her racism has been pointed out.
