I am responding to 523 for some reason it isn’t quoting
what I am responding to when I hit reply. First of all telling me to pay more in taxes voluntarily is as dumb as asking people who are anti-choice to adopt lots of babies. I will be glad to pay more in taxes if it helps other people. I don’t need a huge tax break...And why you were fighting for me to get one is beyond me. You are fighting against your own self interest but I thank you
Yes the reasons you cited for property are real. But aren’t you aware that the poor are getting poorer in the rich are getting richer. Peoples wages or low while the top get you to tax cuts. We also have a blatant discrimination and prejudice in this country which holds people back.

Sorry, Blue States: You Can’t Stop the Tax Bill.

It’s an unhappy time to be a high-income professional in a blue state — or their governor. The new tax law, which caps the deduction for state and local taxes at $10,000, amounts to a roughly one-third increase in their effective state-and-local tax rate. That will be an ugly hit to the pocketbook.

They will fiercely resist any attempt to raise taxes further, bad news for mayors and governors who are often facing big pension holes that are eventually going to need to be filled with taxpayer money. Worse still, they will probably put pressure on said politicians to lower taxes. And some of them may start shopping for residences in lower-tax locales, taking their valuable, taxable incomes with them if they go.

Small wonder that officials in high-tax states are desperate to find some way to undo what congressional Republicans have wrought. A number of proposals have been floated in the last month, all of them interesting, none of them likely to work very well. . . .

The defenders of the new law will probably say “We’re not going after people for their political associations; we’re trying to curtail the subsidy to high-tax states.” And Dorf thinks that argument is likely to prevail.

Jonathan Adler, who teaches law at Case Western, was even more pungent, and succinct. While we don’t know what form the complaint will eventually take, since the states haven’t yet drafted it, “What we have seen [so far] would suggest that there is some sort of constitutional right to a SALT deduction. To state the claim is to refute it.”

Which won’t stop Cuomo et al. from making it.

The only Constitutional utterance is that the taxes must apply equally to all states and all citizens, this bill does we all get to deduct up to the same limit. Now will they find some federal judge who will issue a stay on the Congresses plenary power to set tax law and tax rates on the federal level, yeah to probably will and it will be another waste to judicial time and effort.

Pelosi and Reid held up many of the 2009 appropriations until Obama was sworn in. He first voted for them as a Senator and then signed them into law as President.

First he blamed his dismal two terms on Bush and now he wants to claim Trump's splendid first year, for himself. Two Presidential terms are a terrible thing to waste!

There is a very low threshold of accuracy below which one must fall to even be an economist. I wouldn't worry about it too much if i were you.

Most of the people who file a federal income tax return pay no federal income tax at all. That is to say that the income tax bracket with over half of all tax filers in it is the 0% bracket. So, right off of the bat, any tax cut is not going to affect more than half of the people no matter how it's configured. The top 48% of income earners pay 100% of the taxes. The top 5% of income earners pay 85% of the taxes. Therefore, any income tax cut will disproportionately affect those paying a disproportionate percentage of the taxes. The bottom line is that you cannot get a tax cut if you don't pay any taxes, and more than half of the people don't pay any federal incomes tax.

I own a couple of small corporations and I have stock and other vested interests in many others. I love the new plan. Heck, Denise and I bought a new house. This tax cut will prove to be the best economic stimulus that the government has initiated since 1982. It took the humility of President Trump to understand that the money is much better spent by those who earn it than by those in government. For all of his bluster, President Trump exercises more humility than just about anyone else in Washington DC. This tax cut is just the next act of humility that is re-empowering the American people, unleashing the US economy and making America great again.

We know the Democratic Party's solution to that, don't we? Import 10,000,000 more unskilled and uneducated immigrants to flood the job market worse than it is.

Don’t be surprised by progressive judges trying to legislate from the bench. That is the current tactic to resist a non professional politician that the progressive system of authoritarians fear.

She cites the "uninterrupted" history clause:

For the entire history of the United States, every federal income tax law protected the sovereign interests of the states by providing a deduction for all or a significant portion of state and local taxes. This uninterrupted history demonstrates that the unprecedented cap on the SALT deduction is unconstitutional, as the lawsuit notes.

There is nothing in the Constitution that requires the federal government to reimburse the cost of state taxes, which are after all entirely within the control of the state. There is no such thing as an “uninterrupted history” clause within the Constitution, which makes Underwood’s quod erat demonstratum absurd.

The argument that a federal tax policy applied evenly across all states somehow violates state sovereignty and acts in a discriminatory fashion is equally absurd. The reform bill has no direct impact on the rights of states to set and collect their own taxes. Congress has its own sovereignty and is not required to indemnify states from the impact of their tax policies.

Why are Democrats trying to get a tax cut for the rich?

Your friendly reminder that this tax law change affects almost no one under $150K a year, which means this is a tax on the top quintile of earners. Of course, it really hits the richest 10% the hardest. It's quite progressive that way.

IS THERE ANYTHING TRUMP CAN’T DO? He’s already turned the Democrats into rampant McCarthyite Russophobes. Now he’s got them suing for lower taxes.

So you want people to give them less money? How do you think you might convince people to do that?

Quoted for truth and absolute hilarity at once

Leftists have become completely unglued and the sheer absurdity of everything they are saying and doing on a daily basis only drives away more moderate libs and Independents.

Trump sure knows his base. A president trashes his own country to kiss the ass of a despicable dictator and an enemy of America and they defend him
