As Rudolph Giuliani coordinated efforts to declare Donald Trump the victor in states he lost, some GOP electors refused to go along

Understanding how Trump electors came to vote in seven key states in late December 2020 has become a focus of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection. One Trump elector who refused to participate told The Washington Post he was “not going to jump on a bandwagon to say that I know better than the courts.”

Here's some recent news on one of the fathers of the coup.... sounds like his former employer isn't going to have his back here...

There's 2 stories here.. his refusal to answer questions to the committee by taking the 5th and his lawsuit to prevent his emails from going to the committee... the 2nd doesn't seem like it's going to end well for him (nor will the first)

    SNIP
The disclosure came in a court hearing before U.S. Judge David Carter in Santa Ana, Calif., on Eastman’s lawsuit to block a subpoena from the committee directing Chapman University — where he previously worked as a professor — to turn over more than 19,000 emails relating to his work for Trump in the months following the Nov. 3, 2020, election.

But Eastman’s argument suffered a blow when the lawyer for Chapman University, whose computer hosts the emails, told the judge that the professor had no right to use the university email system for his representation of Trump because it was partisan work on behalf of a political candidate — a violation of the university’s status as a nonprofit.

Any use by Eastman of Chapman emails on behalf of Trump was “improper” and “unauthorized,” said Fred Plevin, a lawyer for Chapman. “I liken [it] to contraband,” he added.

I bet some of those EMAILs would be a fun read.... here's hoping!

'alternate electors' from 7 states issued subpoenas

    SNIP
The panel subpoenaed the people listed as chairperson and secretary for the bogus slates of electors from Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin to find out more information about the plan to overturn the election results.

As has been pointed out (by me) before, New Mexico and Pennsylvania did a much better job making their fake certificates conditional. Will be interesting to see if those 2 states are treated like the other 5, or get lesser treatment....

Yep, the coup bullet, The Big Lie, is still travelling at high speed and the DOJ seems to be letting it happen. The current Admin seems to lack the political will to hold powerful criminals accountable.

The National Archives said in a statement Monday that “a number of torn-up records that had not been reconstructed by the White House” were turned over to the agency at the end of the Trump administration, reported CNN and The Washington Post. The ripped documents had to be taped back together by National Archives staff in order to hand them over to the House select committee investigating the attack on Congress.

The agency told CNN that some of the presidential records — which are turned over by law to the National Archives at the end of every administration — had been ripped up by then-President Donald Trump.

The Archives noted previous media reporting — such as Politico’s in 2018 ― that found that Trump regularly tore up papers he was finished with, which then had to be taped back together by staff to be preserved.

Pence documents to be turned over to Jan. 6 committee, National Archives says

    SNIP
The National Archives has informed former President Donald Trump that it will turn over records from former Vice President Mike Pence to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

In a one-page letter, National Archivist David Ferriero on Tuesday said the agency will provide the congressional panel with "Vice Presidential records" that Trump is seeking to shield as privileged documents.

Ferriero said the records will be delivered on March 3 unless a court intervenes.

I'm sorry? Did I miss something.... The SCOTUS said T**** couldn't exercise any control over T**** documents... that doesn't automatically roll down to everybody below him? At this point, all that should happen is Biden's team should go through these documents for security issues. Fatty should be entirely out of the loop....

If we need any further evidence this system is ****ed beyond repair, this might be it....

Here's one document we are likely to see from the Pence 2021 collection....

I still don't understand how people can be talking to the committee and claiming executive privilege for conversations they had with the former POTUS ABOUT 1/6?

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/02/03/politics/january-6-mike-pence-aides/index.html

If the questions veered into governing matters, then it's OK to claim EP, but we'd have to know the specific questions to make that determination...

NOTHING regarding the planning of 1/6, false electors, DOJ interference, etc etc should fall under EP grounds...

I wonder if the committee has recourse here?

I'm guessing whatever hearings they have will be must see TV...

Sure they did.... at the Ellipse and even originally gathering at the Capitol... then it rapidly devolved from "legitimate political discourse" into illegal political crime...

It's too bad the Senate didn't put together a committee, because Uncle Mitt likely would have been on it... that would have been fun to watch...

Republican National Committee votes to censure Cheney, Kinzinger for investigating Capitol riot

The Republican National Committee voted Friday to formally censure two of their own party's members — Reps. Liz Cheney, of Wyoming, and Adam Kinzinger, of Illinois — because of their work investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. The resolution said it would "immediately cease any and all support of them as members of the Republican Party."

    Of course it's acceptable.
Anything and everything they do is acceptable and we're supposed to pretend there is no double-standard.
Half of those Capitol rioters would have been dead or sentenced to life in prison if they had any other skin color.
And, they have the nerve to whine because their white privilege got them 3-5 and some got house arrest.

I sort of understand their pass on his affairs and unprotected sex with hookers (that's basically what all his wives were) and maybe a couple of the lawsuits were frivolous. Yeah, he used the White House for the RNC and his equally horrible daughter violated the Hatch Act several times. OK. Nobody's perfect.

But this....? Standing by for HOURS doing nothing to help the brave men and women we employ to protect our communities?

    That's unconsciousable.

TRUMP WATCHED AND IGNORED PENCE'S AND PELOSI'S PLEAS TO ENGAGE BACK-UP.

Have you noticed their Lord won't say the names of the cops that died. We know exactly how this would have ended if black and brown people injured just ONE police officer.

These monsters injured hundreds of police officers. Four of them were so psychologically traumatized from knowing their own President stood by and didn't lift one finger to get them help. Not one. In fact, he NEVER did responded. Pence called them because Trump would not.

To this day, Trump has never said any of the following names:

    Capitol police officers

Brian Sicknick (died after returning to the station)
    Gunther Hashida*
    Kyle deFreytag*
    Jeffrey Smith*
    Howard Liebengood*

    * All died by suicide in the months following the Capitol riot. Hundreds more officers were injured by rioters ganging up on them.

TRUMP AND IGNORED PENCE'S AND PELOSI'S PLEAS TO ENGAGE BACK-UP WHILE HUNDREDS OF COPS WERE BEATEN

Reportedly, Trump was so gleeful watching them hurt those officers and breach the building. His legal team and staff had to push him to even read the statement that was written to disavow himself from the people that did exactly what he manipulated them to do.

I am really curious how they rationalize things. I mean, their position has been that Trump didn't do anything wrong and the rioters took matters into their own hands. Yet, that doesn't explain why he NEVER called for back-up when he saw them go rogue.

But, even more bewildering....and they won't answer me except with insults.

    If we start with ...

    (1) that they were invited to hear him speak near the Capitol,
    (2) and he told them to "protest peacefully",
    (3) and they went rogue on hundreds of Capitol police officers,
    (4) breached the building by breaking windows and doors,
    (5) demanded to be taken to our then-VP Pence (he was being removed through an underground tunnel),
    (6) and it was all harmless (which they whitewash as "trespassing")

Can you tell me why Trump would need 10,000 National Guardsmen and Guardswomen? He never requested them before or since that day.

TRUMP LIED AND SAID THAT HE ASKED FOR BACK-UP AND PELOSI REFUSED. HIS CALL AND HE REFUSED TO MAKE IT.

I will admit that I thought I was at the place where nothing he did or they rationalized could shock me. On January 7, 2021 I had to face the fact that I was mistaken about that. Yeah, I know Trump has some deep psychological issues. Everyone paying attention knows that. What I didn't know is he could make something that horrendous come down on the police force and anybody could or would excuse that.

5 CAPITOL POLICE OFFICERS ARE DEAD BECAUSE TRUMP COULD ACCEPT HE WAS FIRED FOR CAUSE.

He did say that he could shoot somebody and not lose supporters. He racked up 400,000K when he abandoned his job in 2020, 5 dead Capitol police officers, couple hundred rioters in prison, 4-5 dead rioters and let's throw this count in their as well.

In summary, I'd say it's fair statement they can find anything justifiable for their Lord. That messes with the head.

    Image4.jpg

P.S. You have to overlook that they won't wear masks, socially distance or get vaccinated but want the rest of us to endure mass school shootings because they don't want to get rid of their guns and they get to choose what a woman can do with her own body. How fun and hypocritical is that?!?!? /s

    Why Does Trump HATE Cops?

Why did Trump do things that led to a higher than average death rate among his supporters?

He doesn't hate cops. Other people are not seen as anything other than someone new to con. Cons don't have emotional attachments to people or feel things for others. They don't know how.

During the period between walking away from the podium to standing back in front of it to disavow the rioters he manipulated the only phone calls he made were to Senator Lee to implore him to stop the certification. That was well after those cops were brutally beaten. He picked up his phone as they lay there bleeding and broken and his only concern was what he is only concerned about - HIMSELF.

That is why he was banned from social media. He's dangerous because he doesn't have that other voice the rest of us do. His niece, a psychologist tried to warn them.

I can't recall where I heard it, but I have trained my brain to live by it. "When someone shows you WHO they are, believe them."

    1 (192)(0).jpg

Yes, part of it is he thinks he's a "stable genius" (if you read that as functionally illiterate and ignorant on just about anything other than cheating and stealing and lying about cheating and stealing).

Again, though, his wheelhouse is being a pathological liar. His "marks" (the people cons choose to run their game) don't know that he's a liar. That's their expertise. I was just lambasted yesterday and accused of making up headlines about him. I don't know how to create a website. I also didn't know anything but Trump's name for the past few decades. Why in the hell would I (or anybody) want to create THOUSANDS of websites about how horrible he is?

Beyond that, some of us know how to do legal research to see the actual court documents. Did I hack into random courts' record departments also? And, the silliest part of that is that ALL court records still aren't completely electronic. A person has to actually go to the court and complete paperwork to see the paper files. Trump has been conning people his entire life. All that stuff isn't online. They probably have a 100,000 square foot record room somewhere JUST for his lawsuits. ;-)

It surprises me that someone would think it is. It's almost like they can't even move a few degrees off his backside and think about the claims they make. But, that actually fits your video clip so yeah, there's that. ;-0

This is a 'for your information' post.

You can avoid a long URL, because anything past the question mark "?" including the question mark, is unnecessary for the link to work.

Now, this is true most of the time, so let's test it on this URL

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/rnc-votes-censure-cheney-kinzinger-investigating-capitol-riot-rcna14943

The rest of the gobbledegook is cookie data which will automatically be spit out again, anyway. Thing is, it's not needed for the link to work..

McConnell calls Jan. 6 a 'violent insurrection,' breaking with RNC

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday broke with the Republican National Committee over its characterization of the events of Jan. 6 as "legitimate political discourse," saying instead the attack on the Capitol was a "violent insurrection." The Kentucky Republican also criticized the RNC for its censure of GOP Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for their roles on the Jan. 6 committee.

That's surprising since he back-pedaled that same opinion back when the riot happened.

I don't really understand why people can't see how destructive and toxic Trump really is. I wouldn't expect it from his average supporters because most people aren't well-versed in spotting a con artist (which is why they do it so well) but other politicians and staff members inside what was probably hell on Earth for them in that Administration should see and act upon the gazillion red flags.
