One step fer a monkey, one giant leap fer monkeykind... Space monkey ‘big step’: Iran minister Wed, Jan 30, 2013 - APING NASA? : A previous attempt in 2011 by the Islamic republic to launch a monkey into space failed, but Tehran has launched probes containing a rat, turtles and worms
You haven't understood my point. These examples do not show general breadth. You clearly only want to "defend" Russian technology which is why you include the link you do. Pre Soviet times Russia was part of the West and the term itself took on another meaning with the Cold war. This is not about nationalism its about political systems and as I've said its not that authoritarian/totalitarian systems can't produce cutting edge products for if that was the case then technology would never have progressed. Its that it cannot compete in breadth with the Western liberal democratic model. Take a look at technological breakthroughs and the West clearly dominates how ever many individual examples you may find that don't fit the pattern.
Part of me wonders why PETA is not condemning the misuse of animals. Maybe they should go to Iran and protest.
There is a special connection that exists between the Iranian people and the Capuchins of South and Central America. Something to do with prehensile tails.
did Iran fake it's monkey's return? http://www.businessinsider.com/irans-space-monkey-trip-faked-2013-2 (it's not the same monkey)
Initial reports that I read was that the contents returned to earth with no mention that the monkey was alive which I thought was strange as that would have been my first question. Only later reports said that it lived. But the flight probably did return as the return journey is not that difficult but I think the monkey probably died in a crash landing
The original monkey died, but they trotted out a different monkey. They fooled gullible arabs and their own people, but nobody else. They are kinda comical. - - - Updated - - - The monkey that lived:
The corporatist plan is to make the sky above the private property owner public property. Then they can use it all they want without paying reparations. Of course, space is a different matter since it's not an extension of your terrestrial property. To own space you should have to go through the usual homesteading process: mix it with your labor and you gain ownership of it. Public property always benefits the rich at the expense of the poor and middle class.
