In 2008 (when Bush was President) the US and Iraq signed the US-Iraq Status of Forces Agreement". That is a SOFA, we have one with every country we have troops in. And in that agreement, we agreed to pull out of the cities by the end of 2009, and out of the country in 2011.

    Period.

What you mean to say is that you wanted us to stay. Here is the thing, what you think does not matter. If Iraq wanted us to say, they would have revoked or requested the agreement be changed. But they never did that.

We stayed in Europe and Japan as an occupation force. Then as the occupation ended we stayed in Europe as part of NATO to offset the large Warsaw Pact military. We also are still in Japan, as a partner in their defense. We are no longer occupiers, and we have a SOFA with each of those countries (as well as with South Korea) that specifies everything from the utilities they provide, what laws are enforced where, and what the role of the US is in the event of an attack.

Those countries still want us there, Iraq does not. And I have no interest in staying in a country that is not under occupation, and no longer wants us there.

Whatever you want to believe is beyond my control. Gates and Panetta along with many others agree with what I’ve posted.

We stayed in Europe and Japan because Stalin was lurking on the border.

It seems that too many would like to see the death of Democracy. Personally, I think Democracy is the best the world has to offer and those who want it destroyed are either religious fundamentalists or terrorists. Maybe both. Oh yes, and idiots too.

But we did (along with many other countries) and we won and Iraq became a constitutional republic with representation from Shia, Sunni, Kurd, Christian, women and Obama gave it all away.

    Sure.

And there's a million other sources that some people are too lazy to google.

Ever wonder how Bin Laden lived 1 mile from the largest military presense in Pakistan for so long?

    Hmmm

Notice, I have said nothing on if it was a good move for the US to leave. I agree that it was a stupid decision. But that does not matter. TThey wanted us out, we signed an agreement with them saying we would leave. We left.

Then exactly what people warned them about happened, so we went back. Just as I am sure that if we leave again to soon it will happen all over again.

Does not matter. They are an independent country, they have the right to ask us to leave if they do not want us there. And we should then leave.

This is the difference. I can see the difference between my opinions, and what is. You seem to confuse the two, and believe your opinion is fact.

    No.

We occupied Germany and Japan to ensure that nothing like the NAZI Party would rise up again. To allow them to become a stable nation, unlike the mess that was left after WWI. France, England, and the Soviets stayed for the same reason. Other countries with smaller occupation zones were Poland, Norway, and Belgium.

You are aware that the Occupation lasted until 1952, right? And that the Soviet zone took up almost a third of the country, right?

Most of Japan was occupied until 1952. The exception was the Ryukyu Islands (Okinawa), which were actively occupied until 1972, and partially occupied until 1978. The official currency there was even the US Dollar until 1972. On 30 July 1978 the final vestiges of US Occupation ended.

And it had nothing to do with the Soviets. It was because nobody wanted to see WWII happen all over again.

Well, the only government they're trying to overthrow in Afghanistan is the one we sponsor. You seem to be against that government, which would seem to indicate that you favor... the Taliban?

Wow, my hat is off to you for even reading that garbage.

Once I saw what looked like a My Little Pony vomited all over my screen with changing fonts, size and color I just ignored it and moved on.

I have a great sense of humor. I simply see nothing funny in this kind of coprolite.

Especially when all somebody seems to do is vomit out nonsense, and insults anybody apparently that does not agree with them. No, I see nothing "funny" in those who act like trolls.

And why would I try to get you banned, paranoid much? I generally have a much more effective way of dealing with trolls.

    Goodbye.
