is homosexuality genetic or is it learned behavior?

You don’t understand. The Christian has an OBLIGATION to tell someone that’s sinning, who doesn’t think they’re sinning, that they are. If they don’t, then it becomes THEIR sin.

That's a pretty nasty thing to say to a Christian person. Why do it?

He doesn't want people to sin, but He knows people still do. We are to STRIVE to be perfect, but no one is. He also said "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect", but it does not mean a person can be as perfect as God.

    Already explained.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

I didn't say "exact". They were good people, striving to honor God with everything they did, which is why God chose them to become John's parents. But only Jesus was sinless His whole life, which is why He (not Zacharias or Elizabeth) was the perfect sacrifice to settle the sins of others. Only He met God's requirement, and only He is ever referred to be 'sinless'.

"God made Him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”

Logic has nothing to do with it. I am telling you what the Bible teaches.

"Friendly" went out the window with your accusations. As for being blameless, dozens of people were called blameless,

Everyone is a sinner, and yet the Bible is full of people who were called blameless.

And no, no one said you had to explain anything to me.

The obligation is to call out sin in fellow believers, so they can correct their mistakes, but it is not a Christian duty to judge non-believers.

"What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside."

You can evangelize, and talk about the Gospel, but to rub people's sins in their faces it not helpful and nor is it what God wants you to do.

No see your issue is that you’re a Paulian Christian. You follow the doctrines, teachings and examples set forth by Paul. Jesus does not teach your doctrine. Jesus teaches a doctrine of perfection. Nowhere does Jesus teach this “confess that Jesus Christ is your savior and died on the cross for your sins and rose the third day and you will be saved”. Jesus NEVER teaches that all have sinned. Ever.

That is not, never has been and NEVER will be Jesus’ doctrine. Jesus’ doctrine is simple. Love God above all else and love your neighbor as Jesus loved you and you will see heaven. Do it not and you will burn.

And as you quoted and somehow think Jesus was... I don’t know just telling us to do something we aren’t able to do? Jesus stated you shall be perfect just as your father in heaven is perfect.

But what was he talking about? He was talking about being perfect HERE on earth in your obedience to the will of God. The “you shall be perfect verse” is the last verse in Matthew 5 and the verse actually starts with “Therefore,” so he is saying BY DOING all of this stuff I just talked about you shall be perfect. So what did he talk about? Go look at Matthew 5 the entire chapter is about being perfectly obedient to the will of God here on earth.

Matthew 10:27 Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. 28And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But ratherfear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in [h]hell.

Notice the juxtaposition. Do not fear him who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul. So don’t fear the barbs of humans who might kill you for preaching his word because they don’t like what you have to say. You must fear GOD for if you do not preach what he tells you then he will destroy both your body AND soul in hell.

@Pro_Line_FL oh and btw I’m not the one asserting that the person described as keeping all the commandments and ordinances of God was a sinner. That would be you.

And you are telling me this because..........?

Ah, the good old "saved by your works" line. No, Jesus did not teach that you are saved by being a nice guy.

No one is saved by their works, not even you no matter how "perfect" you think you are.

We are saved by faith, and nothing else: "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."

    Oh dear......

Did God destroy the soul and body of the thief on the cross? He didn't preach anything, and he didn't perform any wonderful works. He was a thief, and Jesus told him he'd be in paradise the same day.

He told us to STRIVE for perfection.

Of course not? God takes us from nothing and gives us life with the opportunity to earn ETERNAL life by following what he told us to do. If we choose not to earn this eternal gift that’s completely within our purview and God simply sends us back to the nothingness from whence we came. It’s a no lose situation. How does that make him evil?

I beg to differ and so does Jesus:

    Matthew 25:31
When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdomprepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do itto one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

He told you how it was gonna go down. You don’t have to believe him but I would suggest you do.

DO WHAT I TELL YOU TO DO OR BE UTTERLY DESTROYED. Yep pure evil, I'm just glad that the god that actually exists is nothing like she's portrayed in the bible.

Oh good ole John 3:16. The verse most abused by preachers and Paulians alike.

Have you ever actually read John 3:16? Specifically have you read the part that comes immediately after John 3:16?

Here let me remind you of what it says but first I’ll point out the word “condemned” in John 3:16 because it’s important.

John 3:19 (the very next verse) And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.

John 3:16 is not about your confession. It is about your DEEDS or works.

But you were nothing to begin with? How is that evil? You’re simply going back to the same state which you were at before and were unaware of.

What’s the problem? You want eternal life and not have to do what you’re told to get it? Why would God give you eternal life if you’re going to be disobedient?

Yes you were. We all were. God takes us from nothingness and offers us eternal life. But to get it you have to do what you’re told. If you choose not to, that’s okay too. He just sends you back to where we all came from. Nothingness.

Yes, there is greed, lust, and all the other 7 deadly sins out there. At the same time, there is altruism, hope, and encouragement too. The world is not on the cusp of collapse. It never has and never was, even during the dark times of the plague in Europe.

If homosexuality is going to be a sin and therefore not encouraged, then we should also not encourage premarital sex, coveting thy neighbor's wife or property, divorce under any circumstances is a sin, etc. Right?

Matthew 28:19 does tell Christians to go and teach the gospel. The questions then become how, when, where, why, and to what extent. Furthermore, there are other religions out there too, not just Christianity. And to teach can have different meanings and context.

Christians are very complex persons. Sometimes we are the most judgemental people on earth and at the same time, the most generous people on earth too. Someimes it is better to show by your actions that you are a Christian than by teaching/preaching, and sometimes it is the other way around. All depends on what gift you have. In addition, faith in not exclusive to Christianity because all religions use faith to justify their belief system.

    Name them.
First all that is necessary to be righteous before God and therefore blameless can be found in Genesis. "And Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness.
The whole of ezekial 33 is about the futility of works righteousness.
If man can be perfect, that is without sin then there was no need for the cross.
Therefore the claim of humanly perfection is a claim to godhood, or a statement that some sins just don't count. I find the later to be predominant but equally in error.

There are dozens of scriptures that testify against a theology of works. I will mention but two for now. Salvation is by Grace and Grace alone, lest any man should boast. And the aforementioned, All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
You can't keep them all. That's why Christ came.

One further note, if one looks a Matthew 25, specifically the allegory of the sheep and the Goats those who thought they had warned heaven stand with the goats, while the sheep don't even recall having done anything at all.

How can this be? It's all a matter of Grace. Grace, you see is an act of God whereby the Holy spirit places faith in an unbelieving human heart, that said human heart can believe God and be accounted as righteous just as was Abraham all those years ago. It has nothing to do with being sinless.

And note the phrase is 'believe God' not 'believe in God' for as it notes in James even the devil's in hell believe in God.

That is the consensus of almost the entire medical and social scientific body in the western world. That it is a characteristic that is both innate and immutable.

Homosexuality is not considered a mental illness by any of the aforementioned bodies only by some whackjob social-conservative orgs (again almost only in the US) and a few people like yourself on the internet who for some reason need to consider it to be so to confirm your own biases.

I like how you use the word "grossly" all the time. It's quite good for dramatic effect but it's also completely inappropriate.

It would be fair to say that some homosexuals suffer from elevated levels of stress and anxiety compared to their heterosexual counterparts. But some isn't all and to be considered a real mental illness there would need to be sufficient pathology to effect their ability to lead their everyday lives without some kind of medical intervention. This isn't the case. The US Transport Minister (also a vet a Harvard AND Oxford grad - the latter on a Rhodes Scholarship -) is homosexual as was one of Iceland's recent Prime Ministers. Can you present any evidence that they are/were mentally ill?

On what basis do you assert your contention that that was "the reason" for the source study's focus?

Good, well the thesis was tested and found to be correct. It clearly wasn't their "behavior" which needed to be altered to achieve that aim, it was societal attitudes and changes in the law which seemed to have the most effect; so no reason to alter that trajectory going forward.

Look, I could spend hours of my time pouring over study after study to confirm or dispute your contentions but the fact is, judging by some of your other posts that your positions are not actually based in science or medicine but in YOUR INTERPRETATION of YOUR RELIGION. These are positions you are entirely free to hold because we live in a free country. For that very reason the rest of us that don't share your views are entirely free to ignore them and, increasingly, do so.

If you want to argue that homosexuality is wrong because it's a sin and offensive to your interpretation of your religion, that's fine. Do it! That, at least, would be an honest framing of your position. However when you try to wrap that up in a veil of obfuscation and pseudo-scientific observation it is both patently obvious and offensive to the core debate (not to mention boring after years and years of seeing people trying and failing to do the same thing on here).

Again, outside some whackjob social-conservative orgs (which barely exist anywhere but the US) and a few people like yourself on the internet who for some reason need to consider it to be so to confirm your own biases, nobody considers homosexuality to be a mental illness.

Most homosexuals in the free world, again increasingly so, lead happy, healthy well adjusted lives and so they should. I know that for some reason this really bothers you but I doubt there's much I can do to help. It is what it is!

Back in the olden days — the “60s and “70s — the homosexual community insisted they were born gay. Then the news reported that researchers discovered a part of DNA that was strongly linked to a person being gay. At this, the gay community became outraged and attacked the research trying to discredit it.

    Figure that one out!?

Both. I know people who said they knew they were gay early on. I also know my sisters long time friend who was abused by her father and become gay because she learned to hate men early on.
