The Christian Canon was established in the 5th century. There was a lot of scripture pertaining to Jesus that was not made part of the Canon. Since you appear to be a believer can you tell us what the criteria was for determining good scripture from bad scripture so many years after the fact? Even if the Gospels were written by eyewitnesses what accuracy is obtained from memory that is decades old. Could you transcribe a speech you heard last week? Of course all of this could be cleared up by a simple modern day communication to the masses from God.
What you believe is of no interest to me but if you can prove your claim that would be of interest. Of course there is never proof provided by the believers.
As an aside I have to mention I once saw Bob Dylan open for the Greatful Dead in Washington DC. There were about 50 people listening to him. At the end of his set, when the helicopter landed with the Dead and some freak yelled "There's Jerry", about 60,000 people swarmed the stage. Just saying.
Shroud of Turin is evidence of a "supernatural event"... Image made by a nanoburst of straight wave energy.. kinda like God beamed up the body wrapped in the Shroud
The Shroud of Turin is a total fraud as has been discussed here at length in the past. I am not going to waste bandwidth here recreating this discussion. However, feel free to post the proof of your claim if you have any new information. I don't think anything has changed since the last forum discussion.
True. But the spiritual claim runs parallel to the historical claim. Thus God's people; the Holy City; the Promised Land; brought out of Captivity; exile and punishment for sin etc are paralleled through actual events - ie the Jews, Jerusalem, Israel, Babylon and the exile which is coming to a close in our own age. We are asked to take the spiritual (miracles) on faith. So now we "know" there was a House of David and it isn't myth, but as to whether God spoke to David - that is an issue of faith. All this is a far cry from the Roman Grecian Gods who dwell upon Mount Olympus.
Not quite. The situation of the Jew has no real parallel in any other ethnic group. The bible says the Jew will small in number, blessed and cursed, driven into and brought out of exile, and maintain a continuity where nearly all of the ancient groups are lost in antiquity (ie Samaritans, Egyptians, Edomites, Moabites etc..) And today we are seeing the gathering of the Jews out of all the nations and their return to Israel. This process is on-going and was foretold in the bible. Antisemitism which is rising in the West will drive the remainder of the Jews back to Israel.
Why should non-believers care what the Bible says? Particularly since the Exodus story is a false claim. Now if you think Exodus is a real story please post your proof.
Do you remember the passage where James and John wanted to do the Elijah thing? Later on they let the Jesus character get nailed while they hid like scared rabbits despite having extraordinary powers. Luke 9:54 (CEV) = When the disciples James and John saw what was happening, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to calldown fire from heaven to destroy these people?” edited typo
But then why was the world still so unsettled? Obviously God's Message was incomplete. So he sent Muhammad, the "Seal of the Prophets"
Or for that matter, how the sun stopped in the sky, or the dead rose from the grave? That's faith. But what buttresses these claims is prophecy - so today we see the fulfillment of what millions thought to be an absurd claim - that the Jew would be called out of all the nations and return to their ancient homeland, and the ancient current, language etc are restored. The prediction of this was done BEFORE the Babylonian captivity - and it was called the second return. A second return, when there was no captivity or exile, was doubly madness. But like fire coming down from heaven, it happened, or should I say, is happening right now. And some of the events surrounding the battle for this new nation read like a miracle.
What do you mean by "unsettled"? God's message was complete, according to the Scriptures in the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Religious cults are always adding "new revelation", nothing new.
