    I
“Opportunity” is the single biggest factor in criminal behavior.

This is simply not correct. I don't see conservatives demanding that those that say things that conservatives don't like be banned from YouTube, Twitter, Facebook et al. I do see leftists do this. And I see far more Democrats talk far more about race than conservatives. Conservatives usually only talk about it when some liberal brings it up.

Not quite correct. Opportunity is the biggest factor in whether someone will attempt to commit a particular individualized crime, but the fact that they are even contemplating committing a crime is due to various reasons that make them feel like they even need to commit a crime. So, even if you get rid of all guns it will not stop a crime, because they will just find another opportunity. So in effect all that you're doing is changing how a person commits a crime if you just focus on the object.

    Insane, isn't it?
Look at the gun control laws in ME. Look at the violent crime in ME.
Look at the gun control laws in MD. Look at the violent crime in MD.
    So much for that theory.

You won't find a single infantry soldier out in the field without a knife. Even fighter pilots brings a knife with them in case they get shot down.

Some extremely harmful objects should be banned. I would have banned guns, drugs, and motorcycles.

I have been a patient since 1992. Effexor, 75 mg helps my depression.

Guns arent harmful at all. I've carried one on my person for over a decade and never had any harm caused by it.

I'm a bit of a collector of pantographic knives, also known as paratrooper knives. I believe they were issued to those people.

Sadly, each year in USA, about 34,000 people use guns for murder or suicide.

If guns, drugs, tobacco, and motorcycles were banned, hundreds of thousands of lives would have been saved. Sadly, most voters would not approve.

And 120 million gun owners don't. Clearly it isn't the presence of the gun that causes this.

Sadly too many people prone to suicide and homicide obtain guns.

Had drugs been legal, casualties would have been much harder.

In Russia 1550 -- 1700, tobacco was banned.

Or a lot less, all the murders involved in drug cartels would be a thing of the past. All the deaths in smuggling. The illegal trade off contraband does a lot of damage.

I've been a licensed hunter even before I was qualified to own guns. You just pay a fee for a license. All you really need is an ID and an address.

Disagree, intent is. If I want to steal something I could probably find the opportunity. If I had the opportunity is have to have the intent.

I am sorry I was ignorant on the subject. I have nothing to do with extreme hiking or sport. I weigh 158 kg.
