Why? America has got the best government money can buy!

Limiting election expenses might work though.

Long hard prison sentences for convictions. No white collar resort prisons either. Hard time. Pelican Bay style.

To be honest our corruption is very slight compared to many countries.

Maybe it seems so, if we judge by the official data. Moreover, do you know how and by whom the Corruption Perceptions Index formed? Let me explain some. Corruption Perceptions Index calculated by "Transparency International". This is a non-governmental international organization for the fight against corruption and the investigation of corruption around the world. Sources of funding - government organizations, non-governmental foundations and commercial organizations (Federal Reserve). Look around yourself and make your conclusions. Is lobby of absurd laws not a form of corruption?

By the way. 6-billionth kickbacks scam was revealed in the highest circles of the White House in the last year. And Rita Crundwell, former Chief Financial Officer of the Dixon city (Illinois), for seven years she was stealing more than 9% of the city budget annually, and as a result she stole about $ 30 million. Since the beginning of 2013 government officials at various levels have been charged with 2320 cases of bribery, including the 678 - on a large scale. It was one of the high-profile examples of cases. But much is hidden from us, not to destroy the positive image of America

The fact that you know their names and that they are being tried for crimes is a positive. If the corruption was that bad we would not know their names and these things would not be tried in court. When I go into my city hall I do not automatically assume I will need to bribe an official to get something done. The same when I speak with a legislator I do not assume that I need to "donate" to their campaign to be heard. When corruption is endemic in a system you see it all the time and expect it to get anything done.

I know there is corruption in our system. Any time you get a group of people together there is going to be some form of corruption. But from where I am standing the USA seems to take corruption seriously and we try to find it and stamp it out.

I'd be surprised if there was any state that had/has zero corruption.

Make Government corruption a high crime. Twenty years prison, forfeiture of corrupt money and make the fine double the corruption theft. No release until paid.

    Making it totally public ...

Imagine if a tax payer could detract from taxes to pay the sums payed to corrupt administrators and politicians, but only declaring who received the money ...

This would also have a positive effect on economy: corruption would be no more an occult cost for the businessmen.

So you don't think the Sierra Club or Audobon society should be allowed to lobby?

Power breeds corruption and narcissists revel in it. I've heard people from Chicago bragging about the corruption there and excusing it with, "It works." In New York, the police distinguish between grass-eaters and meat-eaters. That's police officers who just graze on the grass that readily available and those who hunt for more protein. Retired police officers in Los Angeles have written about the corruption there and no one really cares. And we as citizens reward corruption and punish honesty.
