What's the story behind the bolded portion above?

Is the term "worlds" to be taken literally, or metaphorically?

 

Christianity is by far the largest organized religion in the world.

I did read a report on that just a couple of days ago. But - how did they reach those numbers? Is a Christian someone who attends church at least once a week, or someone who simply identifies as a Christian?

I could call myself a Christian but it doesn't mean I am.

Not sure how many Muslims there are in Australia but I believe Islam is the second largest religion worldwide, next to Christianity.

 

If you take Islam as a whole vs the largest christian faith(Catholicism), then yes Islam is the largest religion. If you add Catholicism along with Eastern Orthodox and all the Protestant denominational and non-denominational churches, then Christianity is the largest. Then again, Islam is not a single belief. Within it you have Shiite, and Suni, plus various other sects.

 

Ohhhh okay I see know. When you add all the Christian denominations together it's over 2 billion. I read that wrong.

Yes there are different sects in Islam. But we all believe the same basic aspects of the religion, and really there are only minor differences. And the sects in Islam are Haram...

3:103 And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.

The differences between have sects has little to do with the Quran or Prophet Muhammad SAW, rather little things like the importance of the Hadiths and If Ali or Abu Bakr was the first Caliph. I personally do not care for sects, and I would be considered a Sunni.

From everything I've read, I'm thinking it is to be taken literally. However, "worlds" or "universe" could also mean Earth, Heaven, and Hell, but I haven't seen anything about that from what I've read.

Here is some different translations:

Yusuf Ali: Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;

Saheeh International: [All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds -

Shakir: All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

Daryabadi: All praise unto Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.

Wahiduddin Khan: All praise is due to God, the Lord of the Universe;

Personally, I take it literally. In a Universe as big as ours, it's almost absurd to think there is not another planet similar to this one - or a totally new one that still supports life.

If you can't practice your religion at its fundamental tenents---then its just a feel-good practice--not one that has true principals or even beliefs.

If a religion is dangerous or non-beneficial when practiced by true fundamentalists, then its showing its true charactor.

[He is] Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He does not have a companion and He created all things? And He is, of all things, Knowing.​

It is the fundamentalists who twist the religion to fit their own views, which are often violent.

The majority of Muslims are not following the religion wrong, if that is what you are trying to say. Killing innocent people is Haram in Islam, it is a sin, yet the fundamentalists do it daily.

5:32 Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.

Bhukari 78:667 Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: The Prophet said, 'The biggest sins are: To join others in worship with Allah; to be undutiful to one's parents; to kill somebody unlawfully; and to take an oath Al-Ghamus.'

There are many more verses and Hadiths against the killing of innocent people.

Surah 21:30 Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?

Just one of many scientific miracles shared with us by Allah SWT in the Holy Quran.

"Heavens and Earth" means universe. Allah is talking about the Big Bang Theory: From Wikipedia

And Allah SWT also tells us about the expanding universe.

Surah 51:47 And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander.

It's hard to believe, with all the daily bloody evidence, that anybody believes that crap.

Yes. The Muslims I know are very tolerant people that seem to share my values on most things. Honestly....I don't know how "fundamental" they are, how much they read truth in the Koran and all that.
