When they were denied the vote.

When they were paid less than men for doing the same work.

When they weren't allowed to attend college.

When it was acceptable for men to beat and rape their wives.

When there were separate ads in the newspapers, saying "Jobs for Women" and "Jobs for Men".

When companies had actual lists of "Women's jobs""( paid less) and "Men's Jobs" ( paid more simply because they were labeled "men's" jobs not because they were harder or more complicated.

When nurses were paid less than the janitor of the hospital.

When men were embarrassed if they were caught doing housework.

When they couldn't get a patent on their inventions.

When they had to write under a male name or not get published.

When they weren't taken seriously in the workplace.

When they're viewed as more emotional when clearly that's not true.

When they were told their ONLY purpose in life is to procreate and take care of their "man".

When they're smothered in pink and told they should want to be a princess and not an engineer.

When teachers called upon boys more than girls.

When they're told they can't be an astronaut because women aren't astronauts (this happened in the 21st century !)

When they were used for test pilots in WWII because they were "expendable" and men weren't....they could test and fly the planes but weren't allowed the glory of being a fighter pilot, that was reserved for men...

OK, I could go on but you'll probably just ignore history and resort to calling me a Nazi....because you have NOTHING ELSE :)

"" And any man that hits me will wake up seriously injured and left. I have already sewed one up in the sheets and beat the hell out of him wit ha 2x4 bed slat. He made mistake of slapping me so I just waited till he went to sleep and slowly sewed his ass up and beat the crap out of him with that board and left. I have had a couple businesses that did ok, but took too much time away from family. Last man who sexually assaultted me got his eye glasses turned completely around on his head for slapping me on the butt.""""

Oh you mean when men fought and died fighting for freedom? And when working for a living was much more brutal? When women were not demanding equality because the world was a much more brutal place?

So you yearn for more brutal work? You want men fighting more wars? Oh wait they are and for what? Women were not demanding a
Equality because they weren’t aware of the inequality. Once your consciousness is raised and you realize that you are treated like a second-class citizen you organize. I am sure there will be people in Saudi Arabia saying How much better it was when women couldn’t drive

I have long read the dudes posts. I have no idea how he came up with things he says. I am 79. I lived when he speaks and do not recall women back then whining at all.

As to women flying fighter aircraft, this is all news to me. I know women flew war planes from the USA to England and other places as needed during the war. Why have women shot down?

Back then, we respected women far more, by a long ways, than is done to women today.

If teachers called on the girls in my classes either less or more than boys, first I heard of it. Seems to me the teachers tended to go down the list alphabetically.

I doubt you who argue lived in the dark days of WW2. I did. I started school when the war was raging. I was quite familiar as a child what was going on in WW2. Mom started a business during WW2. She struggled as a small cafe owner but not due to her being a woman. She later bought a store already in operation and made good money. I don't know the women some of you claim to know.

Should she have called in a man? She handled the uncouth and sleeping male. Good for her.

I am a teacher and was involved in this very study and I am sure you were not aware, as I wasnt , that boys are picked on quicker than girls when they raise their hands. I was even guilty of that until I became conscious of it.
How did we respect women for more in the days you are speaking of? What did women do that got them more respect? If you think respect is opening doors while denying them access to the top colleges then I have to disagree with you. If you think respecting women is denying them equal access to credit and to medical schools etc. then I again have to disagree with you

The only man she should have called was a divorce lawyer [or woman) but she stayed with him. If my husband raised a hand to me he would be out the door

What!!! A "brutal" place ? WTF are you talking about ? Being a banker or a doctor or an architect is brutal ??WTF are you talking about..

And your : ""Oh you mean when men fought and died fighting for freedom?"""

is another example of women not being valued....WOMEN fought and died for this country too and total IGNORANCE of history won't change that FACT...see how YOU valued women LESS....

In WWII women were used as test pilots for new aircraft because , despite your claim about how women were respected then, they were considered expendable.

YES, they could fly and test aircraft but weren't given the respect to be allowed to actually use the planes to fight for their country.

There simply is NO time when women were respected as equals.

...and just because YOU haven't heard of something is no reason to believe it didn't exist.....and certainly not proof it didn't exist ...

Oh, see, we have things called "history books", we read them.

You weren't born when the Civil War was going on so you don't know it existed or what happened? Really!

A child just starting school had no idea what the war was about. You said you had no idea women flew aircraft in WWII.........

Another homey little "story" relating to nothing.

You didn't address one word of Renee's post yet you quoted it.

No, I don’t think women are weak at all. I love when men tell women what they think and then insult them. I guess you think she’s weak because you need to defend th damsel in distress :).
Actually weak is staying in an abusive marriage

I too am old! And when you were a little boy starting school you had no idea about women’s issues Or about the issues of war because you were 5 or so.
Women were used to test planes as well as parachutes as they were expendable. There is a wonderful Museum about women in the military and I was shocked about this.
What do you mean when you say you respected women far more? How did you show them respect? Holding doors but slamming doors to the best colleges and board rooms and medical schools? By not taking rape seriously? By denying women credit? Perhaps that is respect in your eyes and I understand it because of our ages, (that’s why I don’t react when older men call me sweetie). But it took me many years to realize the Gender inequality. It is hard to deal with a problem if you don’t know there is one. When I couldn’t apply to the best high schools and colleges I didn’t realize that it was wrong. But once you realize there is a problem you deal with it
