Putin gets to play peacemaker. In the Middle East, the U.S. sided with the Sunnis and Russia has adopted the Shia. The sides are in the process of sorting out spheres of influence and the meeting between Putin and Netanyahu is part of the process.

Most of the disputed land in the WB is uninhabited so as long as Likud is in power they will fight to get as much of it till a deal is (probably) dictated, Left and Center parties would have already make one sided retreat like we did in Gaza, but since the Palestinians will not accept the borders Israel dictate - it jumps us back to the Likud vision of a never ending war, so........I simply don't care anymore

Iran has certain issues to iron out, but everyone in the region (including the Israelis) knows that if you take aim at Iran, you are going to get hit back in return. It is not a question of if but when. In the meantime, though, we see again the Israelis trying to threaten Assad personally. Which then makes me upset at Russia, who is also an ally of Assad but is playing footsie with an Israeli government that openly threatens to assassinate the leader of a country allied to the Russians. The Russians don't face a fraction of the issues and constraints that Iran faces and yet aren't making any notable reactions to these Israeli threats. Now imagine if another country openly threatened to assassinate the leader of a country allied to the US. The UN Security Council would already be holding meetings to discuss measures against that country. Unless the Russians make huge noise, and back it up with action, in reaction to these direct threats against Assad, they will hold very little credibility with anyone. In fact, let me be clear: as significant as the Russian help has been to defeating the terrorists and mercenaries trying to unseat Assad, it was only after Iran had already assured that the "Assad must go" slogan and predictions of his imminent fall were not going to come true anytime soon, that the Russians began to actually help out in a concrete way. The first year into the civil war in Syria and even after that, the Russians were mostly attending meetings aimed by the coalition working to unseat Assad to find ways to wrestle the country from him. Unless the Russians suffer some weaknesses that go beyond what I understand, their inability and unwillingness to truly stick out for their friends not only undermines their credibility but is frankly baffling.

Anyway, if Israel went to war with Iran, Israel would almost certainly be destroyed itself. Not only do Israel's apologists overstate Israel's military power, they tend to understate Israel's vulnerabilities. Actual experts within Israel know this, which is why they are always trying to get the US to fight its wars for it. Only clueless Americans think Israel is eager to fight Iran by itself.

Many dont recognize Assad as legit Syria leader ever since the FSA was accepted in the Arab league I think, he is in power over part of Syria.

By not giving an excuse to finish Assad and the whole circus going in Syria the Russians and Iranians are doing exactly what you hope for, and it's working because the blood doesn't stop pouring.

 

Israel fights Iran in Syria, if Iran will shoot Israel from Iran - then it will be a full open war, regardless, it wont be the "end" of either nation, sorry to disappoint you.

Palestinians don't have to accept the border in the West Bank. Extending the settlements so far into the West Bank that a contiguous Palestine state is no longer feasible creates the prospect of a single state.
