    Hmmn.
I always assumed that the Empire was a vehicle to enrich the few by making the many suffer.
If you believe the United Kingdom of Great britain and Northern Ireland is a 'success', then you an i define the word 'success' differently.

If they attempt a federal lockdown... WHICH I GUARANTEE... it is not out of the question that real violence erupts if the Supreme Court does not shut down the madness. This Build Back Better crap is scary as all hell. It is the billionaires destroying all resistance/competition and it is rampant all over Europe right now. Violence is breaking out across Europe as we speak in response to the new lockdowns. Nothing else matters to me than this. Another shutdown will kill my company and a ton of other small manufacturing companies across the country.

I imagine you would define success as living in mud huts and battling with the neighboring tribe. I imagine how much better America/Great Britain/Europe/Australia would be if the people who thought of them as failures would simply leave instead of burning them to the ground.

In a way, this election opened up a number of states as swing states, even though as you say, it induces political friction, the fact that an extra number of states become swing also induces they cannot be ignored. Everything in life does come with a price, not all of it bad !!!!

I don't know of any more families or businesses that can withstand another lockdown. It's a scary thought and not out of the question now that Biden is in.

The amazing thing is that 70 million Americans actually voted for Trump.
I don't think that is something to be ignored.
You look like a divided country to me, and I doubt that Mr Biden will unite you (unless he chooses an enemy abroad possibly).
There is a reason why Trump had people voting for him, and it wasn't charm, or intelligence, or graciousness, or respect for minorities, or respect for women, or even to bring back into the fold all the Americans suffering with no healthcare.
He touched something inside people, the pity is he seemed to have touched something very dark inside people, the something that is allied to road rage, or spree killings, or hatred of 'the other'.
The genie is out of the bottle now, and i see civil war and unrest as far more likely than truth and reconciliation.

Yup Republican state legislators purposefully set this up to fail so that their fans would have something to cling to

all Biden can do now is push social distancing and masks and try to improve trust in government for when the vaccine is released

Biden can also empathize with the public, something Trump could not do

But he is. It's very obvious except to those whose eyes are closed.
