    So

So "downplaying" it he put in a travel ban with China? The same ban democrats wanted to block because it was "racist"? Do you call that educated?

Do you think claiming this will have the same deaths as ww2 educated?

The reason that this virus is a pandemic is because a pandemic, by definition, means that containment no longer works to stop the spread. That is the definition of spreading out of control.

Also, your numbers would be comforting, but for the fact that a) deaths are a lagging indicator because the average death occurs ~20 days after infection and b) the number of cases are doubling pretty much every 4-5 days.

Once again, I do not understand why Trump defenders believe that the partial travel restriction that he imposed on China is somehow a magical bandaid that negates all the times that he lied about the virus, downplayed the threat of the virus, touted the benefits of the virus, used the word hoax while discussing the virus, dismantled the epidemic response team, and failed to get the number of tests necessary to educate ourselves about the spread of the virus.

Wash hands and stay indoors. The wash hands part is easy enough. The stay indoors, lost business opportunities, events, weddings, etc? Whether it's about "taking it seriously" or not, they're really playing with fire before there's a social storm here.

They appear to be projecting out(how they're projecting out, I have no idea, we have a statistician here(shoutout to him or her) who specializes in that stuff on how they create projections. The problem with projections is that they can be off by a little or by a lot.

It's a good question. My understanding is that they basically cull data from the statistics and projections used by reputable official organizations.

Their data is also much more frequently updated as compared to the CDC. John Hopkins and the New York Times also has a tracker.

Worldometers, John Hopkins, and the New York Times largely agree with each other and the CDC generally lags much further behind.

For a comparison, Worldometers currently has the number at 6,052 (updated ~1 hour ago)

John Hopkins has it at 5853 (updated 35 minutes ago)

New York Times has it at 5303 (updated 50 minutes ago)

CDC has it at 4226 (updated 50 minutes ago)

That's an awfully big spread on such a basic data point as "current number of cases in the US".

Every deceased American is issued a death certificate. The cause of death and all underlying issues which led up to the cause of death are listed. Below you can easily see the listed causes and time frames that brought the onset of death.

I live in Los Angeles and from what I see, people are pushing and shoving each other in Costco, Smart & Final, and supermarkets. Is this how to reduce the risk of spreading it?

you and I both know that you only detect a virus if one is tested for the virus, we did not have enough tests for the living, let alone the deceased

many earlier deaths will be marked down as flu related, and never re-checked

we will never know the true number of those infected or that died, it will be much higher than those tested in both cases

heck if the doctor just thing lungs issues, and they smoke, they may say smoking related as it's a catch all

Ok Dr FreshAir. If you honestly think the final line item on a death certificate will state flu then there’s no trying to reason with you. The line items on a death certificate would be immediate cause; 6 hrs excessive fluids in the lungs; caused by 2 days of pulmonary edema; caused by 8 days of lung infection such as pneumonia; caused by 17 days contracting COVID19

ok Dr SEAL Team V, if you want to believe the numbers are 100% accurate as to number infected and deceased, have at it

I am saying the testing is short for the living and the deceased, and definitely people that died in December and January may not of been tested, just common sense - many die at home as well, so no, not all death certificates are that precise and not all bodies are autopsied, not all tested for Corona, maybe you did not know that doctor

the data we have is just the best we have, so we go by that - even though we know it's not 100% accurate

We dont have enough testing nor do we have a good way to report the results of the tests we are conducting.

who you calling Trump haters, lol - what about them Trump lovers that defend their messiah no matter what, attacking anyone that dares question or call him out on the things he has said or done

Trump made this about himself, claimed mission accomplished before it even really got started... that backfired on Bush and now Trump

The variance in the statistics isn't due to lack of testing. In theory, each of these figures is reporting confirmed positive test results, right? And the CDC has at least some mechanism for reporting test results.

They've been updating this page daily, and they're presumably not just making these figures up whole cloth.

not everyone with corona has been tested, thus some may have it that are not counted

if I had some flu symptoms today and they were mild, I would not go to the doctor to get tested, would you? cause if I did not have it, I prob would after the dr visit - and I am not even sure I could get tested even if I went in yet

I agree with everything you wrote here, but I can't see that it has anything to do with the CDC reporting 4,226 cases while worldometers has it at 6,052.
