Apparently you might read....but you lack the least bit of understanding. It is quite apparent that when a thread is started by the godless on the subject of Christianity.....it most often turns into Christian bashing which was the actual intent in the 1st place. It is seen over and over.
please don't be silly the Bible says many things and we can all find tons to support our POV. You have to think for yourself not site the Bible
Matthew 19:21 you have a very simplistic understanding of scripture. Perhaps so because it favors your political leanings. If you were to pray, read and understand the entire passage and it's context, you would understand that Jesus discerned this particular "rich man" was in bondage to his money. That does in no way imply that every one of wealth is in bondage to it. Luke 18:18-23 again, a repeat of the same story. The man is identified as a "rich man". Perhaps that was how he identified himself. Not all rich people identify themselves in that way. Many people of wealth use their money for good. I know a very highly successful electrical contractor that owns two homes yet spends much time in Mexico working with the poor. He and his wife spend weekends often making sandwiches then taking them out dispensing them to the homeless. The Bible is "of no private interpretation" don't use it as a tool to defend your political opinions. Honestly, I don't think Jesus would have "identified as a Republican". His Kingdom is not of this world.
but neither is the Republican kingdom of this world, it does not pretend to create heaven on earth as does liberalism Communism. They worship God in heaven not earthly Gods Ceasar Hitler Stalin Mao Pol Pot etc. Like Jesus Republicans care about the individual and his relationship with God, liberal destroy God to create a God on earth!
I agree with you in sentiment....but watch out! The GOP is the home of the likes of Juan McAmnesty. and Lindsay Lame!!
Christianity has been home to many people as have been the Republicans but this does not necessarily tell us anything about the essence of Christianity or the earth.
Just countering your argument of secularists with blood on their hands by pointing out the blood Christianity has on it's hands. I get that you have a subjective opinion, just like we all do when it comes to theology.
what blood do Christians really have on their hands after Jesus and Martin Luther taught billions the 10 Commandments????
Outside the scope of my argument as my argument is that historically Christianity has blood on it's hands.
On a side note- in ancient middle eastern walled communities, taking a camel through the small 'back' entrance when the mainn entrance was closed was called 'threading the eye of the needle' because it was typically a 'man-sized' door. It was a pita, but it was commonly done. Its seems likely that getting into heaven as a rich person is indeed harder than for a poorer one, but not so insurmountable as literally passing an entire camel through a pinhole.
Christianity is all about a person's individual relationship with God. Christianity created the free individual and that led to a free America.
The Bible did not create Christianity it evolved through philosophical debate over the centuries after Jesus died
Thou Shall not steal assumes there is private property to steal and when Jesus was alive you got rich through government today you get rich by inventing new products that improve people's standard of living so God would love modern rich people
Means less than nothing everybody and everything has blood on his handsif Christianity didn't fight for survival there would be no Christianity. This is a very simple concept
I am looking for fact thus my request for Bible passages that support the idea of free thinking people.
If you do not have a Bible passage which espouses free thinking people then all you have is opinion, which I am not interested in as I am looking for fact.
the fact is we have free will and can obey God or not. This is why we have heaven or hell. To a great extent, we can determine our future. The Bible encourages us to “choose life . . . by listening to [God’s] voice,” that is, by choosing to obey his commands. (Deuteronomy 30:19, 20) This offer would be meaningless, even cruel, if we lacked free will. Instead of forcing us to do what he says, God warmly appeals to us: “O if only you would actually pay attention to my commandments! Then your peace would become just like a river.”—Isaiah 48:18.
